Anybody feel like writing a story about Erik & Charles' road trip to find the other mutants - Erik looked pretty happy once Charles dumped the CIA from the search - maybe he had some ulterior motives? I'd love to see something like this. ;)

So, I'm heading back from Chicago. Since 4pm Sunday afternoon, I've seen 8 movies both in theaters and on the hotel pay-per-view.

A wonderful writer has gifted me with an incredible Ryan O'Reily story for [livejournal.com profile] oz_magi. It's a series of scenes going from childhood to just past Cyril's accident with many entertaining detours in between.

Check it out - In the Before

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! Here's to 2012.

I fell off the recording wagon. Here's a list of what was written since the last one.

It's late in the day but I hope that all of you had a Merry Christmas (or a really nice Sunday). I am just glad today is for the most part over with - I love my family, but there are times when I just want to get away from them and that was pretty impossible to do this weekend.

Still working on Magi. I will have it in by the deadline. Absolutely - even if I have to sit at my desk and write porn fanfic Tuesday morning at work, I will have it done and in a shape that's acceptable to me.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] michele659 for the cookie on my profile page. It brightened my day seeing it and your note.

Cut in case anyone wants to avoid my little pity-party )

Sigh. Onto something better. I was given a Kindle for a Christmas present. Any recs on some really good, not depressing, not overly fluffy reads? Maybe some older stuff so I won't necessarily break the bank getting it.

Trying to figure out the deal with these comments - sometimes the subject lines are there, sometimes they aren't, sometimes my icons are doing funky things. I'm sure it'll be somewhat rectified by the new year. Fingers crossed. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

My mom is going to have hip surgery in a week. She has hip dysplasia, which basically means they're going to have to rebuild her like the bionic woman and it also means that she'll have to be off her feet for six weeks which is a bit of a drag, but since she's been in pain for the better part of the year and laid up for the past couple of months another few weeks should be cake.

I am ready for Christmas, but I'm also ready for it to be over. I like New Year's Day so much better - there's something about just having the slate clean and being able to make a fresh start and I'm sure there are people who can do that every moment of every day, but I'm not one of them so I'm just going to celebrate the hell out of the new year and pray that it improves upon this past one.

Still employed. The newest thing is that it might go through January. Or March. Or June. Or October. Basically nobody knows anything.

Saw "Moneyball" at the end of November but haven't seen anything since then. There are a few dozen movies that I want to see, but I have no idea when it's going to happen.

I travel to Chicago in less than a month. I think I'm going to need it.

I'll probably post again in a day or two, so I'll just wish everyone "Happy 1st Day of Winter!"

Complete!

Finished my NaNo story. It came through at 50900 or 51045 (depending on whose word count I use) and I feel okay about it.

I'm going to hit the library today, picking up a book for the first time in ages, and then I'll probably start on my Magi project soon (while the creative juices are still flowing!)

An 1800 word sex scene involving dom/sub relationships & cross-dressing?

You people have really influenced my writing.

My word count & I thank you very much.
cmk418: (NaNo)
Just thought I'd drop a quick 'hello' to my f-list before I'm pulled under the depths of NaNo. The briefest of updates:

Happy about the Cardinals winning the World Series.
Still employed.
Thrilled about the request I'm writing for Oz Magi.
7K words into my novel and I want to get another 1000 at least by the end of the night.
Looking forward to seeing my beloved Blackhawks in St Louis next week.

But since I haven't declared it here on LJ, let me just say that I love Lance Berkman.

That is all.

So, I'm doing my good deed for the day, taking my mom to the library so she can tutor this guy she's been helping for years. I pull into the parking lot, park (manage to scrape the cinderblock curbs in front of the car) but nothing too big, get out of the car and open the door.

Which happens to bump into the guy's car next to me.

Next thing I know, this South St. Louis punk is screaming at me because I hit his car. I'm thinking "no", hit the curb. My mom is explaining that the car hit the curb with his rude but reasonable wife. The guy is yelling that I have damaged his $40K car with my door (there was a miniscule scrape - more like an impact dot, really). His wife keeps going on and on, insulting my mom, which was uncalled for, and then she says "it's not that big a deal, the car has hail damage anyway, insurance is going to cover it."

Good god, all that drama for that. I'm still keyed up. The yelling at me went on for a good few minutes - it was ridiculous.

Some people are just too high-strung for their own good.

Out for five days of fun and dancing in Chi-town. I'll have the laptop with me, but I'm not sure how often I'll be online.

Wishing all of you a fun weekend ahead!

If anybody has an interest in writing a little femslash in the Buffy/Angel/Firefly worlds, you have two days to register for the latest [livejournal.com profile] femslash_minis challenge.

Why am I mentioning this now?

Glad you asked. Every ten rounds, an author gets to choose a theme, this time around it's my turn - femslash based around one of the AFIs 100 Greatest Movie Quotes.

So if this seems to interest you and you feel like participating in a fic exchange with a fairly quick turn around time, check it out.

Here endeth the pimp.

Thank you!

Had today off from work. And tomorrow as well. I know it's coming close to the end of my job, but still I really enjoy being away from that place.

Went to see "Bad Teacher" with my dad. It had some funny moments and stayed pretty consistent in terms of character throughout which made me happy. (Has nothing on X-Men: First Class though). And the Timberlake was charming.

Something that made me giggle from Cracked.com - 5 Things That Are Totally Unrelated to Hot, Hot Lesbian Sex

So I need a kick in the ass to get me writing something. So prompt me. You know the drill. Fandoms - OZ, Buffy, Justified, Life, Mad Men (if it's listed in a tag, it's probably fair game, but those are the fandoms I'm most willing to write about at the moment.)
