My interactive Johari window - pick five or six adjectives from a list that you think describe me. The adjectives are then mapped on a grid to show the differences between how other people see me and how I see myself.

Let me know if you've got a window up so I can comment on yours as well.

Color meme that's been kicking around my f-list:

Comment that you want to do this meme, and I'll give you a color that I think represents you, and then you list ten things you like in that color or ten things it reminds you of!

[livejournal.com profile] trillingstar gave me the color "orange"

1. Birds of paradise - my favorite flower
2. Tangerines
3. Mo akd Moliscious D. Kitty, the kitty that used to hang out in the office in L.A.
4. Christina Hendricks' hair (not so much now, but as Saffron in "Firefly", very orange)
5. Daisies - they always make me happy. That's the reason why I made them Ryan O'Reily's favorite flower
6. Fall leaves
7. Moments during the occasional sunset or sunrise that make me go "wow"
8. Circus peanuts - which remind me of my grandmother who used to buy them and then send them to our house
9. The adapter which allows me to keep my computer on (3 prong plug into 2 slot socket ain't happening)
10. Orange juice at the Nookies' Tree Restaurant in Chicago. Sweet perfection!
cmk418: (Dignam)
Comment with "ACTION!" and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your livejournal with your favorite films of theirs.

... still not employed. I'm going to have to call in as available again to my temp agencies.

The radish seeds that I planted are starting to sprout. I'm curious about how big they're going to be allowed to get before the rabbits start eating them. Big, killer bunnies in the backyard. I need to get out and weed some time this weekend - between the raindrops.

Before I weed, I have to do something about the ant problem in the house. One would think that with all the water outside, they wouldn't need to come in for it, but they are all over the kitchen and the bathroom. I hate ants.

I think Vancouver has eclipsed Detroit in my most-hated hockey team category. And last night didn't really help. I really hate that Boston is playing Carolina, but at least that means that one team I'm rooting for will get to the conference finals.

I need to continue/start working on my entry for [livejournal.com profile] spring_with_xan. What's weird is that neither one of them is what I'd planned to write. There are a couple of free-for-all days left, so I might be able to post them then.

And here's a little something by [livejournal.com profile] iambickilometer for the Dollhouse fans. It's Boyd/Topher.

BTW, if you want to participate in the drabble meme or if you just want to prompt me, the info is here.

I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] trillingstar.

If you've been tagged, copy this and replace the answers with your own, post the answers in your own LJ and if you don't like a question replace it by one you do like.

Tag eight people. I tag you, you, you, you, you, you, you, and you. Go ahead if you want to play.

01. Make a list of 5 things you can see:
computer monitor
light from the phone

20. Say something about the person who tagged you
Very creative, gives ridiculously challenging prompts, someone who doesn't mind McManus fic, and just a really great person to have on my f-list
cmk418: (McManus pic)
Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Feel like doing a little rec-ing, maybe a little bit of self-pimping? Please leave a comment with the following:

1. A link to one of your own fics that you’re proud of or, if you don't write, to a little-seen gem
2. A link to someone else’s fic that you read over and over again
3. A link to a short fic (under 1000 words) that makes you smile

Use the following format:
Title with link (Fandom, Character/Pairing) - Why you like it
(For multi-chapter fics, please make sure all chapters are accessible)

I’ll put up a masterlist with the recs in a week or two.

In the meantime, here are mine )
Feel free to post this in your own journal.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] sandrine

You're stranded on a desert island. The upside? You have a fancy solar-powered ipod that can play video. The downside? You can only choose five episodes (maximum of one hour in length) from five different TV shows.
There are rules: choosing an episode that's only a half-hour long doesn't allow you any more room, and you can't give up one show to make room for a two-parter from another. You have to choose five different shows, and you're only allowed one episode from each.

1. "The Sopranos" - College
2. "Oz" - Unnatural Disasters
3. "Firefly" - War Stories
4. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - Tabula Rasa
5. "The Bionic Woman" - Jamie & The King

Those are mine. Feel free to swipe and post your own.

Comments and questions are encouraged.

So that's it. The awards are in the books. I pretty well missed on most of my predictions. Little disappointed that PTA didn't get anything, but it was the Coens' year. That's fine. They do good work, they deserve to get recognized. I thought Jon Stewart was funny, Tilda Swinton was gorgeous, and Marketa Irglova had the best speech of the night. (Although I will admit to getting a little choked up by the two ladies that won for "Freeheld" - I had no idea what that film was about and it just brought home once again the power of the medium to change minds.) And how awesome was it that the last words spoken by any of the evening's winners were Scott Rudin thanking his partner. That was pretty awesome.

I talked to my family during the commercial breaks. It was funny, the first call I got was right before it started from my brother's girlfriend. She stated that my brother was acting strange and dancing around the room and being generally giddy. I told her this was actually quite normal behavior for him during Oscar night - she missed out last year because they went to a party, so he had to appear more subdued. I had a party one year. 11 people in a room the size of a shoebox. It was fun, but too distracting. I had my ex over a couple of years ago. She just kept wondering why I had food for a small army when it was just the two of us. That wasn't a bad year though because we'd seen everything but one film, so we were pretty knowledgable going in. She didn't get the madness either. BTW, I think we were together the year the NHL was on strike, so she completely missed that side of me too.

On that note, the less said about the Blackhawks game tonight, the better.

By the way, I posted the answers to the "Guess the movie" meme. Check out the madness here. Either I like some obscure movies or I just took some quotes that wouldn't be thought of right off the bat, or maybe a little of both.
cmk418: (Vicennes)
First, there's still time to guess the movie quote. It'll be open until the end of the Oscar telecast, so take you're best shot. All but two are fairly common movies, if that helps.

Second, I haven't really said much this season about snubs, aside from "Sweeney Todd" not getting a Best Picture nomination. There are a few worthy folk out there that deserve some recognition. For Best Actor, I'd lift out Tommy Lee Jones for In the Valley of Elah and pop in Philip Seymour Hoffman for The Savages. Actress is a fairly strong category, but if one had to go, it'd be Cate Blanchett for Elizabeth: The Golden Age and I'd replace her with Naomi Watts from Eastern Promises. Supporting Actor is another strong category, but this is where the most obvious slights occurred (IMHO) so both Casey Affleck The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and PSH for Charlie Wilson's War have to go in order to make way for Ben Foster 3:10 to Yuma and the unbelievably great Paul Dano There Will Be Blood. Supporting Actress is fine the way it is. Original Screenplay should have a nomination for Superbad but moving any of those other films would be difficult. And on the tech side, seriously Michael Clayton should have an editing nomination. And I don't really "get" Ratatouille getting noms in the sound categories - it makes sense in a way, but at the same time, it's a little bit strange. ETA: I totally forgot Tim Burton for Sweeney Todd, so put him on the list and toss Julian Schnabel for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Third, it needs to stop raining. Seriously. It's ridiculous. We've had more days of rain in the past two months than in the previous two years.

Fourth, the NHL scheduling people irritate me. My beloved Blackhawks are playing in Anaheim tonight. Game time coincides with the Oscars, so I'll have to run the silent "real time" scoreboard while the show is on. Hopefully there will be something to listen to tonight after the proceedings. BTW, the reaction of the announcers to yesterday's action was pretty much the same that I had.

I need to finish my prep for tonight. So it's off to the store (or maybe farmer's market) for me, then back here for some more fun and maybe a pre-game nap.
cmk418: (310 to yuma)
Saw this on [livejournal.com profile] sandrine's LJ and thought "why not?"

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. Totally cheating, you dirty cheaters.

ETA: THE ANSWERS HAVE NOW BEEN REVEALED
