Chicago-Bound

In a little over 11 hours, I will be headed to Chicago for a couple days of R&R. I really don't know why I don't do this more often, because after four months of being around my family, I need a break.

NaNo is going all right. I haven't written today, but I'm up to 17K words so far.

I have a thing for ritual and the annual selecting of [livejournal.com profile] oz_magi prompts is one of them. Sit there with the list and an ink pen drawing little arrows to the prompts that I like and think I can write. It's fun being able to take part every year although by December 15 (mark your calendars, folks), I will probably be going through the annual ritual of "What the heck am I going to write for Magi?"

Work is a little bit iffy right now, and I'm glad to be leaving it for a couple of days. They are going to be combining two departments in one space - not sure when it's going to happen and they really haven't where we admin temps are going to fit into the whole scheme of things. Although one flow chart did seem to list the title of Customer Service Support Manager for essentially what I have been doing for the past year. No word yet on if I'll be collecting a manager's salary soon, but it's highly unlikely.

The Blues (local hockey team) are playing extremely well, as are the L.A. Kings. Not so much my beloved Blackhawks, but there's still a lot of season left. (Although if they don't win when I'm at the game on Wednesday, I'll be supremely peeved.

No matter how much you love your family, everyone needs a break from them.
Believe me,I know. I wish I could get away for a few days.Hopefully next year,if things ever settle down.
Do you have plans for what you're going to do in Chicago besides seeing the hockey game?

I admire you doing NaNo. I'm doing the mini again. It's been good because it's getting me writing again. I was so burnt out that I couldn't focus enough on writing anything for a while.
I liked what you had told me about your planned NaNo story. Did you decide to go with that idea? It sounded very funny.

I'm doing Oz Magi again, too, and I'll probably be doing the same thing as you. Around Dec.15th I'll be tearing my hair out and wondering what I'm doing, lol.

I hope when you get back from your vacation things are settled at work.
Have fun!

The margaritas and strawberry Belgian waffles sound wonderful,as does the writing and walking by the lake. And you get to see your team play! That sounds like a perfect get away.

Yes,I felt like something was missing when I wasn't writing,so I'm happy to be doing miniNano and Oz Magi. I found quite a few requests I was interested in,one in particular that I thought I could have fun with. I generally stay away from the B/K ones, although I did do a story on them one year. I love them, but I'd rather take on the less common pairings,if only because so many people do them.

I hope things work out at work, and that whatever you'd like to see happen there pans out.

Yay! Break! Have a great time in Chicago.

You've been really racking up the wc in NaNo. Will you be writing on your break, or are you taking a break from that as well?

Had a look through Oz Magi. Didn't see anything that worked for me, and I think NaNo will keep me busy, especially if I decide to stick with the story and work on it after the end of the month.

Have a fantastic four days away!
