Opening Thoughts on 2008-09
It was very nice of the Blackhawks to put both scrimmages on the web(even though it was visual only during the first one). John and Troy broadcasting the second was a treat though. There were a few surprises.
Can't give too many impressions of the Red team - I was operating on silence without a roster at that time. I was happy that Kontiola scored - I liked him very much for the minute he was up last year. I really have no idea how they won their scrimmage against the Black squad though.
White squad (the group I thought was going to be on top) - What the heck happened? JT & Marty were pretty quiet. I really like Jesse Boulerice. Really like him. And my second favorite child (after JT, of course), Adam Burish, scored, which made me happy. But the goaltending, particularly Unice, was pitiful.
Black team - Kyle Beach - welcome to the team. I didn't think I'd like you but you had me scrambling to figure out who #12 was in the first game, so you're in. Dustin Byfuglien - undoubtedly the star of the second set. Andrew Ladd - fantastic as always. I really thought this team was going to be the big defensive powerhouse, but a 9-3 victory over the white (like I said, pitiful, pitiful goaltending by the white) and it seems like they really have a bit of an offensive threat too.
I miss James Wisniewski. He should be back before the end of December though.
No more broadcasts, unless I can hijack a visiting team, until next Sunday. :-(
