A Departed Drabble

So I wrote a little tiny fic from Dignam's point-of-view. If you've seen the movie, it references Billy Costigan's SIU interview. If you haven't, it'll just seem weird and sort of vulgar. Profanity abounds.

The Reference

Hawthorne.

It rankled him. Who the fuck pulls Hawthorne out of his ass in the middle of an interview? And the way fucking Costigan said it, just drifting off his lips, dared either of them to ask the inevitable question. Dignam didn’t have to. He knew it was Hawthorne. Trainee probably pulled it from a book of quotations, knowing he could use it in a situation like this one. Dignam actually preferred playwrights – Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, and, naturally, David Mamet. Who needed flowery prose when a simple “Fuck you, cocksucker” would suffice?

Fucking Hawthorne can bite me, he thought, smiling.

I just saw this movie last night. And I am so in love with it, and the characters, and the pacing, and the performances, and ... yeah, all of it.

This is perfect. It is Dignam, through and through. I send big kisses of joy for writing this. Write more? *g*

Oh yes! You write more, I will beta ... joyfully, happily, squeefully even.

I rented the movie and then didn't get a chance to watch it for three days (let's not talk about real life now, beyond saying arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh). So, I put it in last night and banished the children from the room. They kept coming back, the little rotters. It took me forever to finish watching the damn movie. Now, I must go buy it so I can watch it over and over again.

I think I might do a little list of half-assed film reviews in my journal tomorrow. The kids have been on spring break. You would not believe how many movies I've watched lately. And some of them were even good.
