A Departed Drabble

So I wrote a little tiny fic from Dignam's point-of-view. If you've seen the movie, it references Billy Costigan's SIU interview. If you haven't, it'll just seem weird and sort of vulgar. Profanity abounds.
The Reference
Hawthorne.
It rankled him. Who the fuck pulls Hawthorne out of his ass in the middle of an interview? And the way fucking Costigan said it, just drifting off his lips, dared either of them to ask the inevitable question. Dignam didn’t have to. He knew it was Hawthorne. Trainee probably pulled it from a book of quotations, knowing he could use it in a situation like this one. Dignam actually preferred playwrights – Shakespeare, Arthur Miller, and, naturally, David Mamet. Who needed flowery prose when a simple “Fuck you, cocksucker” would suffice?
Fucking Hawthorne can bite me, he thought, smiling.

Date: 2007-03-18 04:06 am (UTC)I rented the movie and then didn't get a chance to watch it for three days (let's not talk about real life now, beyond saying arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh). So, I put it in last night and banished the children from the room. They kept coming back, the little rotters. It took me forever to finish watching the damn movie. Now, I must go buy it so I can watch it over and over again.
I think I might do a little list of half-assed film reviews in my journal tomorrow. The kids have been on spring break. You would not believe how many movies I've watched lately. And some of them were even good.

Date: 2007-03-18 08:28 am (UTC)I have continued working on one "Departed" fic and it's up over 900 words so far. It takes place in a church. Slash in church, yes, I would be joining the boys in hell (if I actually believed in it, that is)
And I still have to finish my Oz lyrical fic. That's going to be very different, sort of structurally along the lines of the "Double Negatives" series, but that's all they have in common. My song is "Que Sera, Sera" by the way.
