Happy 2025!
Been a minute. So, since this is unofficially the opening post for the new year, it's time to see how I did with last year's goals and see what's new (or old) for this year.
2024 in review
Health- Despite some initial tiny gains toward my weight loss goal, by the end of the year, I'd gained 5lbs.
How much of that is menopause and how much of that was just me falling off of my practices remains to be seen.
Social- I think I did well with the outside activities portion of my goal, weekly updates here fell off substantially. I didn't do some of the online community engagement that I would have liked to do.
Reading- I had a bit of an off reading year. I read a few new to me books, but there wasn't a lot out there that sparked my interest.I re-read a few books that were favorites, but most of my pleasure reading takes place before I go to bed so I'll sometimes get 15 minutes in before conking out.
Writing- Here's where I excelled. I wrote over 125k words this year- 50k for NaNo & the rest fanfic & other writing. Where I missed was in tracking what I wrote, things fell off midway through September
The plan for 2025
Health- Yes, I'm going with the same weight loss goal as last year. I am committing to exercising more- either walking or riding the stationary bike, having a food cutoff of 8pm, and drinking more water. I've also signed up to take allergy shots so hopefully that will enable me to spend more time outdoors without regretting it
Social- To just get out of the house more. I gave my family "experiences" as presents this year so I'll be attending various events out with them. I'll try to sign up for more things at church as well as organize a church outing to the PWHL game that's here at the end of March.
Writing- I've lowered the goal this year to 75k mainly because, based on how my emotions were during the first Trump presidency, there's a good chance that there are days I won't feel like writing. I am going to make efforts to write every day and to update my fic list and A03 as I go.
New goal for this year- To use or re-use items I already own. Like many of you, I have a TBR pile that needs to be conquered. I'm going to make a valiant effort to open the physical books I've acquired/purchased and either read them or donate the ones I DNF. I'm also going to be rotating the cds I own in my clock radio so that I'm not waking up to the same song every day for the rest of the year. And I'll try to watch one DVD from my collection a week and by the end of the year have an idea of what I want to hang onto and what I want to sell or donate.
I think that is it for the moment. Wishing each of you a happy & healthy 2025!

It wasn't entirely about one thing, but that was a biggie. At the time I was also running more and that takes a lot of free time when I do longer runs. Not sure I'll get back to running, but multi-mile walks are definitely in the plan.
Good luck with your goals!

Culling my physical book pile and going through my DVDs are a big one for me this year, too. My late husband used to buy the weirdest movies and then never watch them. So, I have some questionable stuff in my closet that still has the plastic on it. LOL

I have some movies that were given to me as gifts that still are wrapped and then some that I've watched once and they've been gathering dust ever since. I watched "The Big Picture" (a Kevin Bacon movie from the late 80s or early 90s) last night with my dad. I love that movie.

I've never seen that one, I might have to add it to the list. Have fun with it!
