Early Morning New Year's Day 2000 - Beecher/Keller for severina

[livejournal.com profile] severina wanted some sweet B/K & this week's Slow Sated Sunday prompt was cuddling, so I used that as the basis for this.

Saccharine warning ahead.

The tap of a nightstick on the glass is enough to rouse him, but when he glances at the window, whichever hack was on call is gone.

“Murphy tonight,” says Keller, the sleep still in his voice. “Probably coming by to make sure we didn’t kill each other.”

“What time is it?”

“Does it matter?” Keller’s hand drifts over Beecher’s chest. “The way I figure it, we have at least an hour before the next sweep.”

Beecher rolls over to face Keller. “Can we just stay like this for a few minutes?”

“Yeah.” Neither one of them are speaking in more than a whisper, afraid to break the spell that wove itself around them an hour ago. If he takes the time to analyze it, Beecher would probably say that everything that happened between them in the past few months, from the moment that he stuck that shank in Keller’s back, led to this moment. Beecher didn’t intend to fall asleep in Keller’s arms, but he’s glad he was able to wake up this way, feeling safe and loved for the first time in a long time.

Keller drops small kisses on his skin, starting at his forehead, then high on his cheekbone, moving down to nip at an earlobe and then his jawline before finally covering Beecher’s lips with his own.

“They say, how you begin a new year sets a precedent for everything to come in that year,” Beecher says, when they finally come up for air.

“What do they say about millenniums?”

Beecher smiles against Keller’s lips. “A thousand years loving you is just the start.”

“Happy new year, Toby.”

“Happy new year, Chris.”
