It's late in the day but I hope that all of you had a Merry Christmas (or a really nice Sunday). I am just glad today is for the most part over with - I love my family, but there are times when I just want to get away from them and that was pretty impossible to do this weekend.
Still working on Magi. I will have it in by the deadline. Absolutely - even if I have to sit at my desk and writeporn fanfic Tuesday morning at work, I will have it done and in a shape that's acceptable to me.
Thank you
michele659 for the cookie on my profile page. It brightened my day seeing it and your note.
Trying not to worry about mom's upcoming medical stuff, but it's hard. Not too worried about her, because I know she'll pull through, but having to handle all the stuff that she does on a day-to-day basis, I just don't know if I'm the person that should be doing this, but the men in my family (who are living under the same roof) don't seem to be able to handle it either. And my brother is in a new-ish relationship that he's trying to nurture so I don't see him much anyway.
Sigh. Onto something better. I was given a Kindle for a Christmas present. Any recs on some really good, not depressing, not overly fluffy reads? Maybe some older stuff so I won't necessarily break the bank getting it.

How is your mother doing? I hope things are continuing to improve and that your family is all pitching in to help out.
As far as recs go I'd recommend anything by Harlen Coban. He does mystery/suspense novels.
You can get a two for one offer on Kindle: "Tell No One" and "Gone for Good" for 11.99
http://www.amazon.com/Tell-Gone-Delta-Fiction-ebook/dp/B002GKGBOG/ref=sr_1_26?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1327291631&sr=1-26
He also has a re-release of the first book he wrote, called "Miracle Cure" about people who are killing participants in a clinical trial for a drug that may cure AIDS.

I recently read one of Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyers series, called "The Reversal," which was also very good.

Do you like "classic mysteries"? Because Kindle had a sale on Ed McBain novels, and there are many Agatha Christie books on sale, too.
On the non mystery front I've heard "The Art of Fielding" is excellent, and I liked what I read of it so far.

When you were asking about classics do you mean generally or were you referring to mystery/suspense classics? Also, I like reading history, political, spirituality and books about humor so if you like any of those categories I could make some suggestions.
