Complete crackfic

I'm trying to bust through a little light writer's block so I was going through some old prompting posts I'd saved & found one from Small Fandom Fest 2009 for OZ which was "Beecher/Keller, your shirt". Here's what it generated. This is set after a Season 6 in which Keller lived and somehow managed to get out of prison and live happily ever after with Toby (see? crack!fic)


Keller wrapped his arms around Beecher, holding him close.

“It’s not fair,” Beecher said.

“I know, baby.”

“It’s one of those things where we were there from the beginning and it was good, right? It was good.”

“The beginning was good,” he said, pulling Beecher in for a kiss.

“And then all that shit went down and things fell apart.”

“Right.” Keller rolled his eyes.

“But, but, they were together. Finally. After all the shit they went through,” Beecher sniffed. “And they were together with the kissing and the making up and…” Beecher started sobbing again.

Keller handed him a tissue.

Beecher wiped his eyes. “I hate Joss Whedon.”


If you don't get the reference, "Your shirt" is the line that Tara says to Willow right after Tara is shot by Warren in season six of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the prompt.

Oh! It's lovely! And I totally believe they'd be BtVS fans, and Tobias would get weepy after that scene. I did. Good one!

I did too, but I cried a lot in that storyline (happy & sad tears). I thought about putting a line in at the end referencing "Serenity", but that seemed a bit much.

Hey, I am a Firefly girl all the way. A nod to anything Serenity could never be too much. Besides I think Keller would enjoy BtVS, but love Firefly. Don't you?

Loved it..hated what Whedon did to Tara. Loved Toby being all emotional over her.

I could see him over-identifying with the relationship. Makes me wonder what would have been different if Whedon created OZ instead of Fontana. I think Hill's death was the most Whedon-esque of anyone in Oz. Possibly there would have been more women in charge, like Diane running EmCity instead of McManus. And more of the whacked out supernatural element that we get with Timmy Kirk a little bit earlier. What do you think?

Werevolves and vampires..Diane hooking up with Gloria and running EmCity-yes. Timmy Kirk being a literal devil.
Keller would be a vampire and Toby a slayer-heh.

I can see the Keller-Beecher relationship more as Angelus-Buffy than Spike-Buffy. It would definitely be different.

Oh yes. More epic true love than angsty one-way obsession. Though Spike would have a lot in common with Keller.

Even though I didn't get the reference (I watched some of Buffy when it aired originally, but only the first couple of seasons), I still really liked this. I'm a sucker for hurt Beecher and comforting Keller, and this was really sweet. (It also probably parallels a lot of real-life reactions by people at the end of Oz!)
