Well Joel, ya got 3 more games
Oct. 18th, 2008 08:43 pmWhen you have a faceoff with under 20 seconds to go and they've got the goaltender pulled and have the extra attacker out there, you call a time-out and go over a little basic strategy. If nothing else, it throws the other team off their game plan a little bit.
And I know you've got some kind of love for Kris Versteeg (putting him on the line with JT & Kane shows that) - he's a good kid, not doubting that, BUT he does not go third in the shootout. Havlat - yes. Byfuglien - yes. Freaking scoring machine, Patrick Sharp - HELL YES. And on that note, were you wanting to save him for the fucking prom? Ridiculous.
And because it needs to be said, repeatedly - teams that don't get over 25 shots will rarely win hockey games.
To say that La Quenneville does not impress at this point would be an understatement.
And crap, Nik lost, so that means we'll probably see Hooey in net tomorrow night. (When he wins, I'll go back to calling him by name).
Good things, cause there were some:
Kane played well. Campbell is doing better. And JT finally scored (in the shootout, so it didn't really count other than to prove to him that he can still put the puck in the net). Marty continues to shoot and I think Seabs had a pretty good game.
But it was a pretty disappointing night and I hope the audio feed is better for tomorrow's game - I kept getting this popping noise and it was about 50 times quieter than when I listen to the Kings games (I tried the Blues radio too, but I got no sound at all from them).
At least we got a point out of it.
