It's been a pretty good year for the writing, both fandom and non-fandom related. I suppose having an abundance of free time has definitely helped.
This year I picked up 5 more fandoms - Big Love, Life, My Own Worst Enemy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel. I devoted quite a bit of time to the latter two (and since I am currently working on finishing Season Five of Angel, there should be more of that in the new year). I participated in several different ficathons as well as taking prompted writing from my flist (thank you, everyone that prompted me).
The fics that I am most proud of -
Buffy/Angel -
The Chosen One - Written for an entirely unlikely pairing (Andrew/Giles), I had so much fun writing the dialogue for the Scoobies in the beginning that the piece that was going to be 750 words at the most spun out of control.
Excerpts from the Diary of Xander Harris, Watcher - Those of you who've been reading my fic know that I love canon. This was a real departure for me because I was able to create past the timeline of the show and even develop OC's for this story. I didn't expect it to turn out as well as it did, but I think it's the fic that I'm proudest of this year.
Giles/Xander Octoberfest Entries - Again, it was probably a result of the abundance of free time that I had, but I managed to write for every daily prompt provided during the fest. For a girl who's a little skittish about deadlines and ficathons in general, this was a pretty big accomplishment.
If Honey Had a Voice - It's just a drabble but I love it. I may decide to continue it in the future.
Firefly -
We're Just Following Ancient History - This was the year that I started writing Rayne (River/Jayne) fic. So it's not only het, it's het smut. **shakes head guiltily**
Life -
Aftershocks - I don't usually write on the fly, but I was so in love with the Tidwell/Dani kiss that I needed to get this down as quickly as possible. It's short, but I think it works pretty well.
OZ -
Conversation - I wrote this for the Halloween Grab Bag before I realized that I'd spelled out a plot bunny for this ages ago. I guess some things take some time to ferment.
A Prison Thing -
roguemarch prompted me to write an AU story in which Keller gets paroled before Beecher. AU. And B/K AU at that. Head, meet desk. But I managed to write something that I was quite happy with.
Great Risks - It's still in progress, but the boys have at last reached canon. I hope to finish this sometime during the coming year.
All in all, I think this has been a year where I've stepped up for different commitments, tried some new things, and had a whole lot of fun in the process. Thanks so much for sticking with me and I'm looking forward to writing more in 2009!
