I will beg to differ with the top one though, specifically since I can't move it forward at all. I could watch the moment of impact like the Zapruder film (back and to the left, back and to the left...) And Havlat's stick is in front of the puck at such an angle to not consider it possession.
You're probably right about the NHL PTB not caring if Detroit made it or not. I'm honestly surprised they don't restructure to make it more like baseball so that Pittsburgh could play the Rangers or something like that (sick, sick, sick)
