Almost Vacation Time!!!!
Aug. 9th, 2006 10:07 pmI'm working like a crazy person at the office in order to wrap everything up for the weekend. It's good in some ways. Less impact on the first day back is a good thing. The boss' wife was in the office today so it was a bit more tense than usual. Her thing now is not paying a reasonable wage to get somebody in the office to clean once a week, so she's sticking the staff with it. Not me, yet, at least not this week because she knows better. The guys were hemming & hawing and threatening to quit (side note - where the heck did that expression come from - "hemming and hawing", not "threatening to quit"). I told them to go ahead because people always try to quit (& some succeed) when the boss is out, but no one does when I am. And I don't count one instance where that sort of happened, because I honestly think the boss' wife created a situation so untenable that the employee (one of the most valued members of the staff at the time IMHO) had to leave. They are still holding true to the story that he quit. Bull-f-in'-shit. Didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now.
I am really looking forward to the trip to St. Louis. Can't wait to see my family especially my brother and sister who I haven't seen since Christmas and my niece (of course). I called my parents tonight & she was over. She talked to me for a second, but she's still at the point where she doesn't like to talk on the phone (takes after me in that regard) so she has to be prompted. She's a cutie. They are letting her sleep in the guest room so she gets to be the first one to christen the bed in there - she was not hip to the idea of me sleeping on it before her, so I think this may have been a good strategy.
Since I took yesterday off, today has a lot of mention of that show called "OZ". I've noticed that generally there is a burst of greatness around the 4th episode of each season (I can't remember if that's true for 5, but each of the other 5's (there's 4a & 4b) is incredible. Tonight I watched "Losing Your Appeal." - the advent show of Prisoner Number 98K514, Christopher Keller. Lots of fun visuals here too - O'Reily looking like Cancer Boy from the "Kids in the Hall" skit, Adebisi giving his extra little slouchy hat (in blue) to O'Reily, Adebisi's little dance in front of the pod window as Peter Schibetta and Alvarez look on, and all things Richie Hanlon. One of the funniest lines that I'm paraphrasing, but I never caught before was Adebisi to Schibetta "You want to wash me, little Nino?" Hee-larious in context. Simply put, this is probably the best season 2 episode (not necessarily for individual scenes, because there's an upcoming laundry room scene that more than likely will take that prize), so I could have quoted all the dialogue given to us by Fontana & Bradford (the brother that can write) Winters but I'm just going to hide this few behind a cut since the language/subject matter is intended for mature audiences only -
