Undefeated (So far)
Sep. 27th, 2006 10:05 pmI can't quite believe it. My Blackhawks are 6-0 in preseason play. 6-0. My brain is starting to say unreasonable things like "this could be the greatest Blackhawks team the world has ever known" or "they may never lose." Now, common sense applies here. I do realize that they will lose eventually, probably sooner than I'd hope. I also realize that pre-season counts for nothing in April. That said, they are doing fantastic things on the power play, I couldn't be happier with that aspect of it. And my boy (Rene Bourque) got a goal tonight so that pleases me.
Choir tonight. It wasn't bad. We spent way too much time on a song that I'm not going to be performing anyway. The thing that sucks is there were just two leads again tonight (me being one of them). What are we leading? It's like that dog in "The Grinch that Stole Christmas" that has to pull that sled full of stuff up hill - takes too much energy and eventually it's gonna get the momentum and overpower you anyway.
Oh the dentist last night was oodles of fun. I like my dentist and I would recommend him to anyone going for a cleaning, because he's good. The last time I was there I had a guy faculty member, so that made life easier. This time it was a female. She was pleasant enough (and fairly gentle - young enough that she hasn't become a perio bitch like some others there), but I have a lot of issues with the women in perio maintenance. So the first thing this one recommends doing is "full mouth probe". Probing is when they measure your gums by repeatedly sticking a sharp metal object into the space between your gums and your teeth. It is a fairly unpleasant procedure. Not as unpleasant as it used to be, thank God, but by the time it's done, I felt like I was Bubba in "Forest Gump". Ick. My dentist though was great. He came prepared with anesthetic for doing the actual cleaning - I like him almost as much as I liked my first student dentist.
I got home from that at about 11:20 last night and found a note on my door giving me 24-hour notice of inspection (for what I don't know) which is more like 8 hours since I basically am heading out around 7-7:30. Needless to say, I wasn't happy. I left the apartment in its current messy state. If they want clean, they'll have to give me around 48 hours notice (and these days even that is hard).
Ooh, it's only 10:30. I feel like it should be later. Oh I have time. That's a wonderful thing. Think I'll veg for a while. I'm back with some Oz watching and writing tomorrow.
