Home again
Oct. 9th, 2006 08:33 pmIt's so good to be back in my apartment. The trip to Vegas was fun, although it didn't seem like we did a lot. It rained the first night, rained for part of our trip to the Grand Canyon - it was beautiful, I took lots of pictures, but that did manage to take up the whole day. We were shown videos on the bus - the last one was "A Walk in the Clouds" - a movie that sends my sister and I into hysterics. We must have been pretty tired (or were just feeling polite to the other tourists) because we didn't laugh all that much into it. Then we did the usual Vegas-y things - gamble, eat, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, M&M World (a bizarre place), Fountains at Bellagio - daytime, eat, gondola at Venetian, gamble, eat, Fountains at Bellagio - nighttime, gamble, shop, shop, gamble, eat, shop, leave. I placed $5 on the Blues (for my dad) and the Blackhawks (for me) to win the Stanley Cup. Both teams have 50 to 1 odds. I have no idea what the Capitals did to piss anyone off but their odds are something like 75 to 1. Bizarre. Probably also should have put down $5 on the Cubs for 2007 & 2008, but I'll just let my $50 bet with my dad stand for then.
Seems like a lot of people have been busy writing (and other things) while I was away. There was a lot of great stuff out there to come back to. (And I'm very glad to have the day off in order to read/experience most of it). I need to get back to my own projects and do some work on them.
In the Vegas airport there was a shop that had DVDs on sale 2 for $20 - just when I thought I couldn't spend enough money in Vegas... They had "Secretary". I love that movie. It's generally in my Netflix queue once every six months or so. It's a sweet non-traditional romance and James Spader is just great in it. I also picked up "But I'm a Cheerleader" which is just a fun movie that I like.
Maybe I'll work on something independent w/o prompts for a bit. I'm just making the decision to blow off dance class tonight - I'm already home and have a bunch to do and I don't think it's going to be do-able in just 4 hours).
