Yeah, I'm a bit excited. And yeah, f-list, it begins.
Checked out the roster for the Hawks camp - can't quite figure out why Kevyn Adams is unassigned, but that might signal a move we'll be making.
The squad breakdown is interesting -
Red - the hotshit group - Kane & Sharp at forward; Campbell on defense. The rest, with the exception of Corey Crawford in net are fairly untried players.
Black - the defense group - has one of my favorite forward lines (Ladd-Boland-Byfuglien) and a defensive core that mostly has experience with the big club. Add to that Khabibulin in goal and they're doing well.
I sense a lot of Red-Black competition because:
White - When Bobby Lang's on your 3rd line, you've got offensive depth. Not to mention the (heart-fluttering just to think about it) combination of Havlat and Toews on the top line and Keith and Seabrook as your top defensive pairing. With Huet in net, they look unbeatable.
I would do the same for the Kings, but they don't have the camp roster up on the site yet.
One thing that the Kings website has that the Hawks website lacks (and I really, really wish they had) is an audio file of the radio calls for all the team's goals this past year. It actually makes the Kings sound good!
They're ranked 30th and that's still high. I have no illusions about the (geographically) home team, people. Of course, it doesn't mean I won't listen to them when the Hawks have an off-night (or after the Hawks are on).
I really do love this sport. Damn, the Kings sound really good!
