Considering it's almost 11:30 and I'm in my pajamas, I guess it'll be a quiet day at home.

Last night my neighbor's apartment was broken into (for the second time). I called the police when I heard her window breaking, but it still took them a while to get here. My neighbor didn't get home until about 3AM and there was stuff missing. The police didn't really notice anything, just said there was stuff strewn about (the same thing could be said about my apartment on any given day, but my neighbor is usually pretty neat). So I didn't get a heck of a lot of sleep - it took me a while to get the adrenaline back down and then she and her houseguests (I think) were fairly noisy (justifiably so) and woke me back up.

Making some headway on my BtVS fic - I'd like to have it done by Friday and then have somebody beta it at that point.

Listening to Philly-Washington right now. Very cool. The Flyers just scored to make it 2-0. I love the playoffs. But that doesn't mean that I'm not wishing they were done, so we'd be that much closer to September.

This past winter wasn't craptacular enough for you? You want to skip spring and summer and be that much closer to next winter already? Freak.

But yes, April-June are the best months sports has to offer. My hubby wasn't a hockey fan when we met ten years ago but that all changed when I made him sit down with me and watch the dreaded Wings. He still prefers football (pussies with their what, one whole game a week for 4 whole weeks of playoffs?) but now he admits that there's nothing better than the NHL playoffs.

Well, if by winter you mean snow and ice, I live in SoCal, so I don't have to deal with it.

I agree with you. The NHL playoffs are the greatest in any sport - especially those 2+ overtime games - the intensity isn't found in any other sport and with the seven-game series the animosity between the teams builds up. And I do love them.

But there's a part of me that wants to see my team (or teams) play hockey and since Chicago, St. Louis, and LA have all gone home for the summer (again), I have to wait until September in order to see a team that really interests me again. Or else I'll have to fall in love with one of the Eastern Division teams (it will never be the Rangers) and root for them through the rest of the playoffs.

It was a little scary, but I feel sorta bad, like my neighbor expected me to poke my head in her apartment and ID the person. Thank you, but I'm not real big on the whole getting shot thing.

And if someone could tell me why police don't have access to the master keys for security buildings like the fire department does, I'd really like to know.

Police corruption is interesting, because, what with my family's problems with the police, as well as the corruption that seems to infect every police force on Earth, sometimes it makes writing fic in my primary fandoms so hard. It feels like I'm writing a fairytale, because it's so removed from what I experience as real life.

Colin's always been kind of a tragedy to me, particularly considering all the ways he could have gotten himself OUT of Costello's grip, all the avenues he didn't pursue. He could've left at any time in his teenaged years, he could have come clean at the academy, or even early in his career. He could've even burned the envelope, and gotten away with it all.

Oh, good. Then I'll watch it. Sounds good.

Colin's definitely the most flawed character in the bunch and could be considered a tragic hero. I agree with you that he could have gotten out at any time, and that's what makes his story so sad.

It's not warm in SoCal. It's HOT. It got up to 95F today.

I was listening to the Montreal broadcast of the Canadiens-Bruins game and they said that the high there was going to be 14C, but that wasn't going to be until Wednesday. I know you're in BC, so it's a bit warmer there, right?

The thing is he more pisses me a lot of the time than makes me sad. I mean, he's tragically frustrating. He isn't very nice to his girlfriend(granted, she isn't very nice to him. It's funny how the sweetest person in that whole triangle is Billy.), he's a jerk(to a certain extent) to his friends, he employs illegal tactics in his police work, even outside of Costello's influence. Yet at the same time we see how smart and how trapped he is! It's annoying.

In Infernal Affairs, and granted I've only seen the last film, his equivalent is much more sympathetic.

Is Infernal Affairs worth seeing or does The Departed follow it closely enough to not make a difference?

Eighteen sounds pretty nice, actually, perfect spring weather. I haven't been to Manitoba. I've been to plenty of other places in Canada (including Vancouver), but not there yet.

I'm sorry you're hit by homesickness. I still get it too, from time to time, either wanting to see family or friends in St. Louis or Chicago, or just wanting to escape LA for a little while. How long have you been in MB?

They're actually the pairing that renewed my interest in BtVS. I was reading some of the Simon slash on maleslashminis and there was a Simon/Giles drabble that was excellent, which led me to checking out the Giles list. Admittedly, the idea of G/X squicked me a little, but reading the stories is something entirely different, because so many of them are that "first bloom of love"/non-established relationship type that is my favorite type of fic.

It's probably worth it. Like I said, I've only seen the last one, but it's very different from TD, much more involved, if that's possible. And since there's a sequel to TD coming out, it might be worth checking out the differences.

Five years, this Thanksgiving. It's kind of like Hell, only more boring and colder. But it's nice in the fall. I never saw leaves change like that until I moved here.

Twelve is pretty cold. If it got like that down here, I'd have to put on the parka (I'm only sort of kidding). Leaves changing is something that I got in the midwest, but not so much here (we have the browning of the palm fronds - that's our change). I miss that aspect of living there, but not the humidity or the thunderstorms (Lately, every time I visit my parents, there's been one. Last time, my brother who was visiting, my niece and I congregated in the living room to ride it out.)

Actually there's three different sites - one for m/m slash, one for femmeslash, and one for het fic (except I can't remember the exact name for the last two - the femmeslash one is in my user info). All three are pretty much BtVS/Angel-centric, but there is some Firefly and crossover (within the Jossverse) fic.
