Well, I figured out what I'm spending the government's money on - dental work. Yippee. I was going in today to finally get the filling that I lost in December replaced and after some consultation with fun words like BLOOD and PAIN and NERVES involved, the dentist and I decided to put it off for another couple of weeks so that he can get me down into Endo so if this tooth develops into the root canal that everyone believes it will, then I'll be right where the magic happens. Again, yippee. I've still got to have a root canal done on the one behind it, so yay, more fun.
Why is it when Secretary's Day was Secretary's Day, I wanted nothing to do with it (basically because I have never and will never consider myself a secretary), but now that it's Administrative Professionals Day, I wouldn't have minded a little bit of recognition from my boss? Actually a good day for recognition is also known as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. None has been forthcoming for any of the office staff. It was not a good day at the office and it looks like they're generating enough crap to keep me in there for another weekend. I'll have to see how I'm doing on Friday, though, because I'm in one of my "heads will roll" moods.
Speaking of recognition - and this is good - the NHL decided to make Jonathan Toews one of the finalists for the Calder (Rookie of the Year) trophy. Kane's another (of course) and Nicklas Backstrom from Washington is choice number three (and probably the front-runner). But good for JT, I fully expect him to win the Hart (league MVP) if not the Conn Smythe (playoff MVP, usually goes to someone on the team that wins the Cup) sometime soon.
No, to answer the question from my hockey-minded friends, I was not given any drugs at the dentist's.
BTW, it's pretty much the Eastern conference all the way at this point - rooting for Montreal, Pittsburgh, Colorado & Dallas in the individual rounds.
I don't think I'm going to let folks beta-read my stuff anymore. It's starting to cause more stress than it helps - all the waiting to get a response. And if I haven't "gotten it" at this point, I'm not ever going to get it. So I'm going to go and work on my fic for
lgbtfest, edit out the kinks and get it ready to go.
I've got a bit of fic to work on during the next month or so. An entry from the Oz ficathon, another BtVS fic, a Firefly fic for the kink-a-thon, and quite possibly the next part of "Great Risks" (for those of you still around, it will be worth it, I promise!)

Date: 2008-04-24 01:23 pm (UTC)Technically it was more like inaction, because we could have gotten started with the process last night, but then there was the phrase "if I don't finish" and that's where the big resistance came in. I'm a fan of getting it done all at once.
