The best thing about Tuesday

Watching the latest episode of "My Own Worst Enemy" on hulu.
The show is phenomenal. It's interesting to see the limits of how far Henry will go each week, and everything that Edward and the rest of the Janus team do to keep Edward safe. I'm really enjoying it. Expect slashiness soon.
Last night I had a less than stellar night squaredancing, but so was everybody else, so it wasn't just me. We're starting to learn some of the C3A stuff now, which is kind of interesting. (Of course, when our teacher tries to explain the "But" concept to a predominantly gay male group, it has a tendency to get rather silly.)
The nice thing about last night though was that all the guys I talked to could understand why I didn't want to take the Santa Monica job, so I felt a little better about it.
I filled out a couple more applications today. Just have to keep doing that and something will break.

Date: 2008-10-22 02:30 am (UTC)I do business to business surveys. For someone without a college education, it's pretty good money, upwards of twelve bucks an hours, but it's slowly grinding my soul away. I talk to receptionists, mostly, and just keep at it until I get through to whoever I have to talk to.
Seriously, it's ridiculous. Some of our clients, I just want to say, "You know how to sell more stuff? MAKE BETTER SHIT."

Date: 2008-10-22 03:20 am (UTC)I think most jobs are pretty soul-sucking. That's why I'm not minding (except for the financial implications) this 2.5 month period of spiritual renewal that I'm currently having.

What was it about the Santa Monica job you didn't like? Was that the human services job?
Yes-something will definitely break if you keep on filling out the applications.
I LOL'd over the squaredancing scenario. I could just see the guys getting silly over the But concept. BTW-What IS that in squaredancing, anyway?

Date: 2008-10-23 01:44 am (UTC)The Santa Monica job would have entailed a 2 hour commute by bus each way every day. No thank you.
I sent in another application to the USC film school. Maybe I'm starting to wear them down! I can hope.
Squaredancing - Well, by the time you get to the level I'm at in squaredancing, you're supposed to have all the definitions to all the calls memorized (you're not supposed to dance them, you need to know them), so the "But" concept requires the dancers to eliminate the very last step in the call preceding the word "But" and then add the call that follows the "But". And apparently I have squaredancing on the brain right now because the hockey announcer was saying "circle to the left" and I wasn't thinking about geographically on the ice, I was thinking "why the hell are they doing that?"
PS - DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THAT THE BO-SOX ARE GONE?
