I thought boxing things up was supposed to get them out of my way

Apparently not. I'm cultivating an obstacle course in my apartment, trying to get things reasonably organized so the next 10 days are not really crazy. I have to figure out how to dismantle my desk. It was a pain to put together - taking it apart may require a chainsaw. Yes, I fail the power tools stereotype, folks. I have none. I don't play softball either, for what it's worth.

Heard from my best ex today. First time in about two years. I sent out a generic "I'm moving" e-mail and she wrote me back right away wanting to know the gory details. I've run across a few things from her that I've kept - program from the concert we went to our first night out together (which she considers our first date, but I don't), card that came with the roses she sent me, first (and only) Valentine's card, pictures from our trip to St. Louis, so she's been on my mind.

Also talked to a longtime friend from Chicago, who said immediately, "So you're packing up your things and moving to Chicago" which have been how many of our conversations since I've left Chicago have begun. She and her partner may come down and visit and I'll be heading up to see them over Labor Day.

My beloved Blackhawks are having a difficult time in OT. They've only won once. I guess though tonight they should just be glad that they got a point out of it. It didn't sound like anybody else played beside the 3rd line and Nik, which was kinda sad. And to lose to St. Louis - I'm going to hear about that on Sunday for sure.

Read one of my scripts today. It's the great queer Casablanca one, which remains, by far, my favorite. It's honestly sick how much I love that thing. There are sequels and triologies on it. Or maybe I was writing fanfic for my own creation - is that possible? See I told you - sick.

Set everything up with the storage company today. I've got an appointment to go down there next Saturday, but nothing will officially get moved in until Sunday. Maybe I'll bring in a box of light kitchen stuff just to claim the space.

I made some damn good tomato sauce today. Very nice stuff. Tomorrow I have to do laundry. I feel much better today than I did yesterday - less tired. I went to sleep last night before 8:30 and got about 11 hours. I think I needed it.

Assorted randomness -

Is it sad that I see the gas prices at $2.39 and think "oh, that's low"?

Am I the only one who thinks that Reese Witherspoon should not be playing opposite Vince Vaughn in "Four Christmases"? The height difference is pretty hard to ignore.

Apparently NBC did not love Raymond as much as I did. They cancelled "My Own Worst Enemy" to make way for another dance show. At least they ponyed up for the rest of the season of "Life".

And "Dollhouse" will now be on Friday. Probably a sad move for that series. I sense additional broadcasts of "Are You Smarter than a Fifth-Grader?" (or similar show) taking over that slot. But I will watch "Dollhouse" as long as it's on.

The good news is that it leaves my Monday nights free for the NHL on Versus.

Thanks. When I woke up this morning my whacked out brain was telling me - you should just ship everything. It'd mean repeated trips to the post office but in the long run, it'd be cheaper and I wouldn't be leaving any unfinished business here. I don't know if it's more stress or less stress.

Is it naive of me to hope that getting all my stress out of the way early is going to make the process easier?

Huh. That's.... wow. You know, I've always kind of prided myself on being able to find the bright side in almost any situation, no matter how horrible... but actually looking forward to watching Versus's coverage of the NHL? Damn, woman. I bow to the master of finding the silver lining!

Can you get CBC in St Louie?

Well, there's always the mute button if they get too out of hand. (As I might be prone to hit on Jan. 1 during NBC's broadcast of the outdoor game) I've only seen one game on Versus so far and I don't remember it being too awful - I'm sure I'll figure out pretty quickly which teams and players they are partial to - and I've got a pretty strong feeling that I won't be exposed to Columbus, Calgary or Minnesota every other week (which is a little disappointing since I can tolerate seeing those teams on a regular basis).

No, no CBC. I will get 90% of the Blues games which won't be too bad. (Except when they play the Hawks, of course - and that'll only be bad for my mom who has to listen to the yelling.)

It's always strange when a past and good love comes back on the picture (I just saw who I could call the love of my life, at least so far, and I just can't seem to be able to get him out my mind).

Moving really sux, one of my best friends is moving next week, so all the gang was summoned for newxt friday night to help her pack. Wish I could do that for ya; I send you good vibes though.

I think I didn't catch this correctly, NBC canceled "My own worst enemy"? Like for good? I hope not.

I keep discovering stuff as I'm packing - today was love notes written from my first gf, that I'd completely forgotten about. They didn't make me feel sentimental at all.

Moving does suck and it'll be interesting how I'm feeling about things next week, but it seems like I'm getting most of it packed away at a really good clip - maybe I'm afraid if I don't I'll change my mind.

Yeah, NBC cancelled "Worst Enemy". It's a shame because I thought it was a really good show.

I really wanted to watch my own worst Enemy... boo, NBC, boo!

Take the moving as an opportunity to let go of all the things you don't need (material and spiritual). God knows it's something I want to do ;D.
