I'm having one of those days when I'm being really productive and making the attempt to get myself organized.  I figure that the situation with my boss means that I should be working on my screenplay a bit more so I've got to eliminate the distractions that come along with it, such as having a very cluttered computer  space - no one really wants to work in that.  But I'm doing other things as well in order to simplify, like cleaning out my inbox and cutting down on my on-line subscriptions to things that I generally wind up deleting pretty soon anyway.  I created a new LJ folder in my e-mail where my comments and stuff go, just because I'm not willing to part with the feedback yet or print it out and create a paper problem.  Ick.

Once I get done with a bit more cleaning, I'm going to get my hair cut.  It's really needing it.  I'm not one of these people who does well with hair hanging in the face and I don't feel like going back to barrettes - I'm 37, people, the time for barrettes is over.  And I like being able to wash it and have it be dry in about 10 minutes.  That is awesome.  My ex (the one known as the princess) used to spend at least a half hour working on her hair.  It  was ridiculous, sort of like dating my mother - cue the music - I want a girl, just like the girl who married dear old Dad.  Really.  Not.  At.  All.  At least not in that respect.

And then I might go to Bed, Bath & Beyond and see if I can pick up a major appliance or two for the kitchen - in all my years of living alone, I've never had a blender (and I sort of want one) and also, I'd like to see if I can get a food processor (they used to look so fun when I'd see them on the cooking shows), but I'm going to be flexible and if something else catches my eye, I might pick that up instead.  I hate shopping with so many options - it makes the pressure on the trip that much greater.

Okay, so now I've got to get back to work.  Maybe by the time I get back here, I'll be able to see some new fiction postings - lots of people on Oz have scars - Schillinger, McManus, Alvarez, Poet, O'Reily - and there's stories behind all of them.  Pity that they can't be told.

I have 4 hours left to feel like I've redeemed myself for the way this day has turned out.  I did manage to straighten up the apartment, a plus, but the hair thing was a bust - they were booked wall to wall when I went  there with more profitable assignments - apparently today was highlight day.  So then I went to the mall to check out BB&B for some kitchen stuff.  First of all, if you are going to put the line - "never use a knife again" on your food processor you shouldn't then require people to cut whatever they're processing into 1/2 inch pieces.  So I'm doing some experimenting to find out how far I can go with this thing.  I got the mini-version, maybe I should have coughed up more dough for the bigger one.  Hell, people, I know I'm not going to be able to drop an apple in there and have it sliced for me, but you'd think that some of these things would be easier than they are.  I am going to try to make pesto though.  That's a goal.  Truly though, there is something about chopping up veggies by hand that's very therapeutic, so I may just use the processor for slaws and dips and dressings - yum.  I also got a nifty little salad container which is cool since this week is salad week around the house.

I'm getting a little disappointed at what used to be my favorite produce market.  They were taken over by new management and since that happened, the quality of the produce has gone way down.  I think I'd rather go somewhere else even if it means paying more money if I can get better fruits and veggies.

So in between attempts to the salon, I watched "Escape from Oz".  Great stuff in that episode, but be warned, people, in the next day or three, you will be besieged with a veritable gold mine of "Oz" quotes, here's a few for right now.  BTW, "Escape from Oz" is the episode where IMHO Wangler transitions from being an annoying little punk into an interesting little punk.  So here they are , solely from Fontana, and from a variety of characters -

By the way, I am starting to find that Said/McManus slash fic very believable.  Especially after watching the chemistry bounce off the two of them in this episode.   Somebody needs to let me know if Terry Kinney is ever going to make a guest appearance on "Justice", you know, before they cancel it.

I just love the new layout. Especially the green. It goes with my hair.

Vanity run amok.

I know I shouldn't be serially posting like this, but this headline from MSNBC had me cracking up -

Rumsfeld to GI's Families: I'm Not Santa Claus

(No kidding. Seriously. If the headline read, Rumsfeld Declares "I'm Not Santa Claus, but Dick Cheney Is" now THAT would be news.)

Politically I define myself as somewhere to the left of Lenin (there'll be very little Republican lovin' on this page).
