Long night tonight. Was at a meeting until nearly eleven so I missed the end of the Series. Yay Cardinals! I got the news from my answering machine because my dad called when it was over. I saw, for the first time tonight, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". I like sci-fi, and I like musicals, and I like some camp, but this movie just confounded me. I think I needed to be really buzzed in order to appreciate it (and seeing it in a theater with an audience that was into it would be a kick too). I'll take "Dude, Where's My Car?" any day.

Big morning this morning, my co-worker & I confronted my boss on his recent silliness. Chemical thing, blah, blah, blah, will work on it. So it was something. And he was pretty good for the rest of the day, even with the wife in the office. It was weird talking to him though - not something I liked doing, but something that needed to be done.

I figured out the last few notes on my latest 5 for 6 prompt (can't help myself, they're so addictive). There's definitely a style developing when I play with these. It's weird to recognize it, but I completely felt it when I wrote the (tentative) ending.

It's after 2. Probably should head on to bed.

Author's notes:

My need to write on this prompt came with my frustration from writing the first (non-workable) draft of the last 5 for 6 prompt. I do love Said, love writing for his character, but I've got to admit, I did enjoy killing him a lot.

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] history_gurl for giving this a good read and offering suggestions & support.

There is something about the National Anthem being done in the UC that sends chills down my spine. (More so if I'm actually there) The lights are out, there's sort of a blueish tint to the place, one spotlight's on the singer. Then it starts - at first just a whistle here or there, then gradually picking up momentum, around the line "the rockets' red glare", the crowd cheers provide a nice counterpoint to the (virtually unsingable) anthem. It increases in volume, hitting its loudest at the word "free", and sustaining that through the last line. Maybe it's one of those things where you have to be there.

The Dems are advertising during commercials. I've never really seen the candidate for Governor before, but he's got a lovely personality. They should not let him speak. Ever. Just like the former Governor of Texas. The thing is, if people judge this by appearance alone, it's no contest. Arnold would wipe the floor with this guy.

Does the two referee system help if both referees can't see what's happening? Puck crossed the line. Not by much, but it was a goal. Sick.

Something I learned today. Internet audio does not synch up with televised action after it hits the first "buffering" moment. Otherwise I'd totally be listening to the Hawks announcers right now.

I've delayed posting the link to the Said thing long enough. Off to do that now.

No one's going to try to get Murphy & McManus into bed? No one?

I'm glad they turn the clocks back tonight. Of course, church decided to move our normal service up an hour just this week (it's combined with 4 other services) so I won't really feel it.

I finished watching the train wreck known as Blackhawks hockey a while ago. Now normally I'm a very quiet lass (hard for some of you to believe), but when I'm watching hockey, I'm like Omar White on some really good shit- mouth going a mile a minute, liberal doses of profanity, lots of head smacking & arm waving, it's definitely a change from my usual self. And the Hawks give me plenty to yell about. Of course, yelling at the television never changes anything, the Hawks still try to set up for a minute-forty-five on the power play, Sonny still picks up the phone and drives to the toll booth, Said still extends his hand to Idzik, and on and on. Can't stop it.

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] history_gurl for picking up the Said/Adebisi plot bunny and running with it for the HT100 challenge. It's a thing of beauty.
