I'm reading "A Killer Life" right now. It's Christine Vachon's autobiography/producing handbook. She's the one of the best producers of (capital I) independent film out there. "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", "Go Fish", "Swoon", "Happiness" and everything by Todd Haynes are just some of the things she's done. So, in my humble opinion, she's brilliant. I don't read a lot of non-fiction so for me to devour it like I've been doing takes something very special.

I watched the first season of the IFC series "Dinner for Five". It's quite entertaining. A little different and you really have to like actors to be able to put up with it for each half hour episode. Actors fascinate the hell out of me so I put up with that. Along the same lines is Searching for Debra Winger", an incredible film about actresses over or nearing 40 and how they handle everything. It does well for the first hour and then falls apart at the end when the conclusion seems to be, we can handle it, but we still need a man in our lives to feel complete. So so sad.

I also rented a documentary called "Independent's Day" about the Sundance film festival. It was bizarre that I wasn't even looking at the screen when I heard the first voice and just said to myself "that's Soderbergh." Maybe I've watched the "Ocean's 11" director's commentary once too often. Even more bizarre, and you can tell I've seen a little too much "Oz", in the film there's a clip of the movie "Stranger than Paradise", and I'm listening to it because my vision and the image quality isn't that great, thinking "that guy sounds like the guy that plays Penders". A few circuits round the imdb later, I discover that I'm right. And it's not like I watch Seasons 5 & 6 religiously so I have no idea where that came from.

Work is a pain lately. One of my co-workers that basically runs front-line interference has been out the past couple of days and will probably be out tomorrow which leaves me having to deal with clients all day long. The nice thing about tomorrow though is that the young man I consider to be my long-lost son will be coming into the office to help out. So I can further continue his corruption. He really is an adorable child though. The first day he came to our office (4 years ago) he surfed the net for porn and then sat at my desk and typed very descriptive PWP which I critiqued. It's all about bringing freedom of expression to the next generation.
