Randomness
Jul. 8th, 2009 11:42 amStill nothing new on the job front. I'm trying to get on with the IRS, but there have been supposedly 1700 people apply for the 150 available positions. I've got a shot, but there's a lot of competition out there. And the online eval was frightening. I also applied for the local courts (again), but that doesn't close until tomorrow, so it'll be a while before I hear anything. And, I applied at the grocery store that's within walking distance to the house. They were having an "open application sesson" where you could fill out an app and meet with the hiring guy. I went a little over midway through the time slot and there were 8 people in line in front of me to meet the hiring guy. He said they'd call if anything became available. Meanwhile, they're having another one today. I don't quite get that. If there's nothing available, then why collect more applications? It's crazy.
This made me a little sad - Claude Lemieux Announces His Retirement.
I'm going to the Muny tonight - it's the outdoor stage in St. Louis that shows musicals. When I was growing up, we referred to it as "the opera". It took me a few years to realize that musicals were different than actual opera. We're seeing "Meet Me in St. Louis". Should be fun.
Yes, I should be working on some actual writing. Or laundry. Or both.
