Trying to figure out the deal with these comments - sometimes the subject lines are there, sometimes they aren't, sometimes my icons are doing funky things. I'm sure it'll be somewhat rectified by the new year. Fingers crossed. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

My mom is going to have hip surgery in a week. She has hip dysplasia, which basically means they're going to have to rebuild her like the bionic woman and it also means that she'll have to be off her feet for six weeks which is a bit of a drag, but since she's been in pain for the better part of the year and laid up for the past couple of months another few weeks should be cake.

I am ready for Christmas, but I'm also ready for it to be over. I like New Year's Day so much better - there's something about just having the slate clean and being able to make a fresh start and I'm sure there are people who can do that every moment of every day, but I'm not one of them so I'm just going to celebrate the hell out of the new year and pray that it improves upon this past one.

Still employed. The newest thing is that it might go through January. Or March. Or June. Or October. Basically nobody knows anything.

Saw "Moneyball" at the end of November but haven't seen anything since then. There are a few dozen movies that I want to see, but I have no idea when it's going to happen.

I travel to Chicago in less than a month. I think I'm going to need it.

I'll probably post again in a day or two, so I'll just wish everyone "Happy 1st Day of Winter!"

Did you like Moneyball? I loved it,and Brad Pitt was so good in the role.

I know what you mean about New Year's Day and just the whole idea of a new year beginning. For some reason(which is probably just psychological)I just feel more focused and optimistic that things can change. Well,as optimistic as I can get at this point,anyway-which isn't much, lol.

I'm rooting for you to achieve all your resolutions this year, and enjoy celebrating the New Year. I join you in wishing it's better than the last one. Of course it would be hard for it to be worse for me than 2011 was(but not impossible so I won't even think of that happening!).

My Dad had hip replacements-the first one was way back in the day when they only lasted about 10 years, and then subsequent ones that lasted longer. The technology today is amazing and the difference in the pain he had before surgery as compared to afterwards was amazing. I will keep your Mother in my prayers and thoughts, and you as well.

Yay for you going to Chicago since I know that always makes you happy!
I wish I could get away. Christmas was horrible,New Year's Eve was better since I was with my family, but I really need a change in scenery and a chance to just heal from everything.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, but I received your reply at the perfect time and it gave me what I needed to get through the whole "my mom's having surgery" time. Thank you.

I wish I had more space (or my own) so I could invite you here for a visit. Does New York have megabus? I take it to Chicago and the rates are very reasonable (if you can put up with bus transportation, it's so worth it for short jaunts.) Sometimes just checking into a hotel for a day or two can be very healing.

Wishing you peace in the coming year.

You're welcome-and I'm glad I was able to help a little(also sorry it took me a little while to get back to you but things have been lousy to put it mildly in just about every way).

Thanks so much for your offer! It means a lot to me that you would say that and I appreciate it very much.

I hadn't even heard of the megabus, but I looked it up and NY does have it. Wow,the rates are impressive! According to the description it sounded very nice. Is that the case or was that a bit of propaganda on their part, lol?

Thank you for the good wishes! I wish the same for you in 2012.
