I made stuff
Dec. 26th, 2021 02:09 pmSo during this past year's Snowflake Challenge, one of the challenges was to "create your own challenge". This is what I challenged:
Take some time, turn off social media and the news if you can, and engage in some creative play outside your usual medium. You can draw, knit, collage, cook, make up an interpretive dance, write, sing, play an instrument, take photographs, do woodworking, make a pillow & blanket fort, etc.
I purchased my first glue gun and got to work doing some crafty things.
First, I made a prompt jar- This year's challenge is to actually get some slips of colored paper to throw into it (I'm a little nervous because the flowers on the sides have a tendency to fall off with little prompting):
"
Months later, I used some metal scraps from the shop at work to liven up an IKEA mirror (previously livened up by my nephew 5 years ago with some crayons- they don't show up too well)

Next year I hope to branch into painting on metal to make some hopefully decent artwork.

Date: 2021-12-29 06:00 pm (UTC)The mirror had been bugging me for ages. There was a bit broken off the bottom right corner that I was glad to put metal over. I really didn't have a pattern in mind just wanted to do something fun with the metal bits I had.

Date: 2022-01-01 04:26 am (UTC)Would love to see the painting on metal- can't say I have seen that before, though maybe so and I didn't recognize it as such. Sounds intriguing.
I'm hoping to get back to writing, I miss it. I'm going to make it a priority and try to get back on a roll.

Date: 2022-01-01 01:49 pm (UTC)I've seen someone with it before. One of my friends who is an art teacher did some very cool yard art. All I know is acrylic paint and I need to sand down the metal before painting. I originally thought about attaching some of the round pieces to plant stakes and putting them in the garden, but I've since picked up some larger pieces and want to try to do some kind of a wall hanging for this empty space in our living room that drives me crazy.
My writing was a little off this year. I'm used to going through some off cycles, but this year I just had periods of "meh", so I hope to be more consistent with it in 2022. I hope you're able to get back to writing too. Happy New Year to you!
