Nice beginning

cmk418So today's been a pretty good day. Got up later than normal for a Monday, played around a bit, had a nice breakfast then headed out to work for a few hours. I got 50 documents cleared off my desk, as I blasted U2 & Travis music and went back & forth between work and reading Oz Magi stories as they were posted. I'm glad my wish was granted - it had made me a little nervous when it didn't make the first cut, but everything turned out just fine.
I have made friends with the little bundle of allergens known as Mo (the work kitty). He was my companion in the office today, alternating between being really annoying (laying on top of the papers I was trying to type) and endearing (he has a fascination with the printer). I just need to remember to buy a new bottle of Benadryl for the office - I have run out. I guess Mo can stay. The boss loves him, so that's reason enough.
After work, I went to Borders. I tried to go before work, but they weren't due to open for another half-hour when I got there, so I opted for later. Got a writing magazine for myself and a gift card for my brother-in-law.

hardtime100 challenges are up and running again. I didn't think I'd have as many ideas as I did but only one (ok, make that two) involves McManus (which I may not use - yeah, right), so I am expanding my universe somewhat. I'm actually considering playing with a character that I've only touched on before, so that might be a challenge (there's a really fine line with the voice though).
I forgot to mention the new calendar that's up on the wall behind me. My sister put it together - her version of an "Oz" calendar but with film. January is the "Wizard of Oz" and there are quotes & pictures from the film in the top half and in the calendar half there is a quote from "Oz". The other months, except for January, have films that were set in or feature actors, actresses, or directors from Australia (aka Oz) on the top half and then "Oz" quotes revolving around a particular theme. (August, my birth month, has that wonderfully frightening Adebisi/Wangler exchange.) It's brilliant. And on the back where she puts her little trademark graphic is a silhouetted outline of Australia behind bars.
Off to finish my laundry and read more fic.
