Tonys, etc.

cmk418I forgot the Tonys were on until I stumbled on them about 30 minutes in. I have no idea why they had Whoopi Goldberg as the host. I usually find them the classiest of the awards shows (still are, BTW), but Whoopi brings it down a notch or three. I still love all the performances though. Wish they'd have done a few more seconds of the new plays so we could spend a little more time with "Rock & Roll" - even through the static on the screen, I still knew Rufus Sewell. And they did play my second favorite song from "Sunday in the Park with George" (Move On - for the record Finishing the Hat is my favorite and the purest song about creativity ever written). Had to pause for a moment because Glenn Close was on. The thing about this year's crop is that none of them have grabbed me the way that "Spring Awakening" did. Oh, and it was nice to see STELLA!-I mean, Patty LuPone performing and winning for "Gypsy". (Although she did tend to go on and on and on).
I can get married tomorrow. If I wanted to. Think it requires something like a partner and a willingness to be wed, but it's nice that the whole legal restrictions have gone away.
Trevor Linden retired. Makes me sad to see those guys that I grew up with hanging them up. The draft is next weekend, so already I'm feeling like we're moving fairly quickly toward the start of the new season.
So, "In the Heights" wins. Definitely the best performance of the group. But still, not really for me.
Hey, did anybody else who was watching think that the gal playing Ariel in "The Little Mermaid" was going to lose her top? Or was that just my wishful thinking?
Need to spend tomorrow's day off getting the resume together and getting organized for the job search. Maybe I can find something decent paying at a bank - I always liked that sort of thing. I just want to find something that pays well.
