Okay, the season actually starts for my beloved Blackhawks on Friday, but there are a few bits and pieces that need mentioning before then.
-Cam Barker got sent down. That was disappointing, primarily because now Dunc and Seabs are getting split up again so that the prima donna (Campbell) doesn't start whining.
-The "Khabibulin on waivers" experiment fell through, so he's on the starting roster (They sent Niemi down). The press is acting like there's a goalie controversy, but only one of the two current starters has played in a game situation and that's Huet. Despite the fact that I haven't warmed to him yet (which is putting it mildly), Huet will be the most likely starter on Friday.
-Andrew Ladd has to feel like the luckiest guy on the planet. Third/fourth line last year & this year he's on the 1(a) line with JT & Havlat. Think it's gonna be a career year for him.
-Note to my beloved Adam Burish, I do not write RPS. Please stop tempting me.
-Jack Skille made the team. I'm very happy for him. He's going to be on a fun line. I love that he was so proud of his 14 penalty minutes against Dallas. (That was a wild game, well over 125 minutes handed out between both teams.)
-WTF? The website seems to have lost James Wisniewski. That's not right. He should be on the regular roster with the double asterisk. He's going to be back mid-December.
-In other non-Blackhawks related hockey news, this is just disturbing. What is wrong with the Flyers? Don't they want to win? Why don't we send them a billy goat while we're at it?
-Ya all know I'm rooting for Toronto tonight, dontcha? (Oh, I think the bad mojo from the above comment is catchin').
That is all. Happy "real" start of the season, everybody!
