I went over to Unit B today, found a new (to me) McManus fic. It was very nice. I only wish there was more. A lot more. And in some ways that I didn't have to write it, but that aside, there will probably be more than a few McManus-themed fics surfacing on this page in the next few months. Read them or not. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea. Suggestions are welcome.

I had a really strange yen to play with some original fic too, actually toss characters from one of my scripts out into the universe in prose form. It may have been an overload of L.A. Confidential slash I was reading (since my script began by thinking "what if all the slashy subtext in L.A. Confidential was just made text?") And I love that script more than anything else I've written. I've often thought about making it a romantic trilogy. In my head, it's called "The Great Queer 'Casablanca'". (Yes, I have no ego, none at all, really.)

I took the Christmas tree down. It was a bit silly to put it up in the first place because I almost immediately wanted to put it away. This Christmas season didn't really mean anything to me which is a bit sad, but maybe it's just one of those things that evolves over time. I'm also going to do my annual purge of things that I don't have need for anymore as well as clean. It's nice having an extra day to do that.

You know what I'd really like? A small McManus/Whittlesey story. I'd like it to be awkward, like that time when McManus wouldn't go out to dinner with Diane right in front of her daughter. I think it would be kind of interesting.

Oh that's good. And I've never written for Diane before so that makes it even better. And although I love writing for Tim, I love abusing him almost as much. Did you want that scene in particular or were you just using it as an example?

I love that scene, so I'd appreciate something written around it. Like the ethical/psychological layers covering that horrible scene. You gotta admit, the man is a dick. :)

What? Who? I will admit he has his moments, and I do enjoy calling him on them. I'll probably write it from his POV though.
