Haven't written anything other than journaling the past few days. I've got to get back to it this weekend. Next week [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon starts up again so that should feed the muse, but I want to do something before then.

I took the plunge and saw "Bohemian Rhapsody" on Monday. I enjoyed it. It seemed like it was trying to be two different movies- the Freddie Mercury movie and the "music of Queen" movie and I actually found the second one more interesting than the first and wanted to see more of it. I think it's neat that it got an Oscar nomination.

I used to watch the Oscar nominations and try to see as many of the movies as I could, but I haven't done it in recent years. Lately, I just pick out a movie or two that I want to see from the list of nominations and rent it (if it's available). So far, I've only seen "Black Panther" and "Bohemian Rhapsody". I think "Vice" will be next if I get a chance to go to the theater.

I finished a book! It is one of my goals for 2019 to finish a book a month so I'm glad to be on track. I read "Noumenon" by Marina J. Lostetter. It's sci-fi and is about a mission to check out why a certain star is behaving a certain way. There is a convoy of nine different ships and a crew of hundreds of thousands. In order for them to preserve unity and balance and keep the same skill set, they clone the original group of crew members throughout the years. As new clones come into being, older clones are "retired". There's a lot that goes on in this novel. It takes a bit to get started, but once it's rolling (around the fourth chapter), it's really quite fun and hard to put down. Most chapters deal with a new generation and the time span is about 300 years on the ship (a couple thousand years on Earth). There is a sequel that I may come back to at some point, but I wanted something different to read next.

I am going with my mom tomorrow to the St Louis Art Museum to see an exhibit called "Graphic Revolution: American Prints 1960 to Now". I love contemporary art so I'm really looking forward to it.

I also have another weight training class tomorrow. I have barely done any exercising this week and I have a feeling I'll be paying for it, but it's better to do it than not do it.

One week til my vacation!! I'm so excited.

Been thinking of seeing the Queen movie. I loved Black panther. Really need to see A star is born too.

I highly recommend seeing Bohemian Rhapsody in a movie theater if it's not too late. I have a feeling quite a bit of the magic would be lost seeing it on small(er) screen.

That book sounds intriguing. I may check it out.

I loooooved "Bohemian Rhapsody". Rami Malek deserves allll the awards, man. The entire cast was brilliant, really. And it had more humour than I expected.

I don't see many movies in the theater, but I saw Bohemian Rhapsody twice (which I haven't done since the first Avengers movie), including opening weekend when the theater was sold out, and MLK weekend, when it was still half-full for a matinee showing. I loved it, although like you, I was enjoyed the "Queen" aspect of the movie more than the "Freddie" side. What I'd really like to see is a movie about Brian May, where the math-and-science nerd becomes a world-renowned guitar player and rock star. Something to give the math-and-science nerds to cheer about! :D

Have fun on your vacation next week!
