The Women's Olympic Hockey Drinking Game

Here's a little drinking game to play while watching women's hockey.

Take a drink if:
-Someone mentions this is Hilary Knight's last Olympics
-Someone mentions Hilary Knight now has the goal scoring record for the USA. (At this point, she's tied, but does have sufficient time to break it.)
-Someone mentions the USA-Canada rivalry
-Someone mentions Carla McLeod's (Czechia head coach) battle with breast cancer
-Someone mentions Nagano
-Someone mentions that Switzerland missed the opening ceremony
-Japan scores a goal
-Italy scores a goal
-France scores a goal
-Canada takes a penalty
-Canada or the US does not score on a power play
-A commentator goes on about their personal Olympic experience
-The Miracle on Ice is mentioned
-A goal is reviewed
-The discrepancy between shots for the teams is 20 or more (you don't have to drink every time the gap widens)
-A team the US or Canada is playing achieves double-digits for shots on goal
-A commentator makes a connection to an NHL player
-A commentator mentions that body checking is not allowed
-A commentator randomly mentions an NHL player with no connection to the action on the ice at all

I just listen and think of how drunk I could be by the end of the game. Especially on the random mentions of male players. Yikes.

And now we can probably add a bonus one about MPP's injury (which sucks but it'll be mentioned a hundred and seventeen times during tomorrow's USA-Canada game unless it just seemed worse than it is. Fingers crossed that she'll be back.)

I could understand the tie-ins during the last Olympics when it was a way that NHL fans could relate, but the PWHL has been in existence for three years now and many of these players (the entirety of Team Canada) are from that league. Which has fans. Who like and watch women's hockey and know that the women do have success on their own without having to bring their brother or second cousin or the guy that lived down the street from them growing up into the picture.
