cmk418Worked a phone bank tonight to get volunteers to canvas against Missouri Amendment 3. It puts a constitutional ban on abortion as well as healthcare for trans youth. Didn't get a lot of folks to pick up, but it was still fun and I'll be back in a couple of weeks to do it again.
The voters actually voted for abortion access last year, but the legislature reversed it as well as a vote for a higher minimum wage. So now they're making the abortion ban an amendment so it will be almost impossible for voters to overturn it. And Missouri is crimson red so it'd take a while to get a majority in the legislature.
It was nice to be able to be "in community" for a while. I get some of that at church, but it's different there. The vibe was more like volunteering at Pride years ago before it got co-opted by the corporations. Good times.
