Gearing up...
Apr. 25th, 2008 09:48 pmPosted my Buffy the Vampire Slayer fic earlier today. It's here.
Just watched "Dan in Real Life". My family seemed to like it, and there were some nice moments, but it didn't really grab me like I'd hoped it would. Maybe it'll be one of those movies that grow on me. "Lars & the Real Girl" is next and then tomorrow I'm watching a WGA documentary on Callie Khouri (writer of "Thelma & Louise").
There's a whole need for connection now with the movies that I watch. And it sounds so pathetic but it's nice to know that someone sees what you see and feels what you feel and can articulate that through the work. And then to finally get to a point where I'm the one making that connection with the audience, that's what I want. Maybe at this point, it's all about going back to square one.

Date: 2008-04-26 03:52 pm (UTC)I think that art of any kind needs connection in order for people to love it and for it to grow and live and breathe. I mean, the reason things become classic is because, years later, people still connect to the story, still love the characters, still feel everything. Kind of like me and 1950s Spiderman.

Date: 2008-04-26 04:56 pm (UTC)Thanks again for reading and commenting on the fic. I was really trying to steer clear of the whole Tonight on a very special episode of "Buffy" element of it, but I'm not necessarily sure I succeeded.

Date: 2008-04-26 05:07 pm (UTC)Oh, well, I never watch Buffy. For some reason, Whedon doesn't really do it for me(Eliza Dushka does. Oh, does she ever.), so I didn't notice anything. I thought it was sweet.
