It's a comedy/buddy-pic about a somewhat miserable guy who in a moment of either clarity or madness, takes it upon himself to right a perceived wrong and wackiness ensues.

HAH. Did you see the footage of um. Mr Star calls him "mentally challenged" - and crap, now I can't even remember what team he plays for, which sort of nullifies this comment... but it's a tall Russian? dude with shaggy brown hair and a few missing teeth... and I just described a lot of hockey players... but he was on some kind of fake concert where he "sang" and hurled himself about and talked about shaking his "booty"... and... I totally forget my point.
*gulps coffee* Moving on...
I'm clueless about the script process - now that you've finished, what do you do with it? Are there particular places to send it, like studios? (It's for a film, right, not a play?)
Mentally challenged? Does he play for Detroit? Nah, I haven't seen it. If it's on the 'net somewhere, please send me a link.
Well, the next step for me with this one is rewriting, then sending it to my brother for notes (since it was his idea in the first place), rewriting again, and then sending it out - I've got a list of people that I think would be interested. And since this is the most marketable thing I've written in ages, it may actually have a shot.
Mentally challenged? Does he play for Detroit? Hah. Actually, it's Alex Ovechkin, for the Washington Capitals. And I can't seem to find a clip of it online, even though they showed it every morning on Sportscentre last week. :P
Is it hard to walk the line of marketable vs ...um, say, staying true to how you want your script to be? Presumably intelligent, witty, etc? Or do you write it with every word targeted specifically towards a particular demographic/niche? I don't mean this in an offensive way at all - just from your writing and journal posts here, I imagine it can be a tricky thing to do, considering the drivel that HWD seems to be producing these days (yours being of the non-drivel variety). Oh, you know, right?
My writing - hmm - to put it in OZ terms, it's writing McManus/Said in a predominantly B/K world. Some of the folks that like OZ for OZ will appreciate it, but the hardcore B/K folks won't spare it a glance.
