Watched "V" last night and I don't know. It's okay, I guess. I like the kid, although he'll probably get stupid and annoying as it goes on.
But it's not the original. I've been sneaking peeks at that the past week - they've been re-running it on SciFi - and it's terrible, but still pretty creepy. I had a bit of a crush on Marc Singer back in the 80s (times have changed, folks).
But now it's all about Diana. And there's the real difference. Her counterpart, Anna, in the new series, is just annoying (I want to slap her) and Diana is the most watchable person on the screen in the original.
I haven't decided whether or not I'll continue with the new one. It's remniscent of them trying to remake "Bionic Woman" - updating doesn't always work.

Date: 2009-11-05 11:11 am (UTC)must admit, whatever reservations I may have had about the soap-opera-y feel to the original it did say some important things about how easy it can be for fascism to insinuate itself in a society. I was a little uncomfortable with the 'Scientists as Jews' metaphor at first but, in the end it worked.
Didn't know Alan Tudyk was in it but, though I liked Morena Baccarin, her character wasn't my favourite on Firefly, and her being on SG-1, simply wasn't enough to get me to give that another chance (the Farscape actors had been a huge disappointment already) so, other than curiousity, rather like Dollhouse, I see it as something I might put on my Lovefilm list to catch it at some point in the future.
Still under Willow & Tara's spell,
Ray.

Date: 2009-11-06 02:33 pm (UTC)I'm not a big Morena Baccarin fan, but based on the kind of actor she seems to be, she has been well cast both on 'Firefly' and on the new 'V'.
I tried watching 'Dollhouse', but it wasn't enough to grab me into making a weekly commitment.
