Linking to Facebook and Twitter? No thank you. As soon as there's an option to hide that nonsense, I'm taking it (and if it's out there and I haven't stumbled on it yet, please let me know)
Work should be picking up again soon. No one wants to think about their furnace when it's 90 degrees outside. I don't mind too much.
I was planning on a bit of a writing hiatus (after I finish with the latest round of prompts) so I can read a bit more going into NaNo season. But now that

Baseball season is pretty much over around these parts. I know I should remain optimistic until the series with the Reds is over with, but they are pretty disappointing of late. And on that note, Albert Pujols at the Glen Beck rally. WTF? I already had issues with him doing the Wheaties commercials - this is just too much.
I'm reading an interesting book now - "The City of Your Final Destination". It's been pretty good so far. I'm pretty well hooked by most books/movies where the main character is a writer and there are some similar aspects to the upcoming NaNo project, so it's good to see another POV. Next up is a suspense novel - I hope I'm able to finish them both by the time they are due at the library.
In hockey news, the Blackhawks are still the Stanley Cup Champions. I've got a bunch of tix for Blues games and I'll probably try to get one for my beloved Hawks when I'm up in Chicago in November. Bobby Ryan still hasn't been signed. What are they waiting for? I did ask the Blues president if there was a chance in hell of us signing him and unfortunately it doesn't look good. Apparently Frolov left a void in LA (of players that I can not stand on teams that I like), so the goofy Kings signed Willie Mitchell (that little voice yelling "hit him" every time he steps on the ice, that's me.) I'm not particularly pleased with the disbanding of the Hawks, but I know some of it had to be done. I'm really not pleased with the NHL looking at the Alby-Hoss' contract again this year. I guess it gives them something to do. Other than running R & D camps with no major results. Or finding reasons to deny the latest Kovalchuk contract. *sigh*
That's all folks!

Date: 2010-09-02 06:47 am (UTC)Did you get a chance to go to the squaredancing convention this summer?(I think you said it was a convention,I'm not sure). You had thought you'd be able to get the time off from work. I hope you were able to do it since I know you enjoy it so much!
Sorry about the Cardinals,I know how disheartening it can be when the team you like is not doing well. Thankfully the Yankees are doing good. They've been the one bright spot in an othrewise dismal, depressing and horrendous last five months(it's ironic that all this crap with my father started at the beginning of baseball season).
So you have a plan for what you want to do with NaNo this year? I'm pretty sure if I do anything it'll be the mini ones again. That was fun,and maybe it'll get me into writing again. Maybe the hardtime prompts will do that for me as well. I haven't written anything in months. I look forward to reading your response to my prompt(and don't forget the one for Parker and Sopnie from before-you know, the "flexible" one, lol).
What are the books you're reading about? I love suspense novels-which one are you reading now?
I can't believe ANYONE went to that idiot's rally, and I'm sorry that Alex Pujols was there. It just gives that fool more publicity that he absolutely does not need.
I don't follow hockey, but I've never understood why teams dismantle (even only partially) teams that are champions. It's like-well,we won,you guys can go now!
I hope the Blackhawks have a great season!

Date: 2010-09-03 02:28 am (UTC)I did get out to the squaredancing convention this year. It was fun seeing old friends and I did a lot more socializing than dancing, but that's how those things can be.
I actually got an e-mail from the Cards yesterday with the subject line about "get your tickets for the post-season". It made me wonder if the box office was going to sell Cincinatti tickets. (A complete aside - if by some reason we happen to pre-empt your local Fox game of the week, you may want to check it out, since Carpenter will possibly be pitching and he might have a fast ball with Brandon Phillips name on it. Round Two!)
Did I say that? *smacks wrist*
What I am writing for NaNo is an elaborate fanfic based on an unproduced screenplay of mine - so some of it is written, sort of, but I'm coming at it in a completely different way and I'm not sure how much of the original material I'll use. And it's a musical with badly written songs, which is more fun than it sounds. It's not a musical, actually but rather the making of the musical and will enjoy the rambling style present in this explanation.
Thank you for reminding me of the "flexible" prompt - I think I made three attempts at something for that before setting it aside. I have a very nice image of Parker in my mind right now, though.
How is your dad doing? I hope that things are better for him and you right now and that you're handling the transitions in your life with as much grace as you can muster.
Go Yankees!
