Happy Wednesday
Sep. 6th, 2006 10:51 pmIt's been a long day. Work has been really freakin busy lately which is good in some ways but bad in others (cuts into my screwin' around time). One of our major clients loves loves loves me because I handled something for him yesterday when my boss was gone. And he told my boss that, which may ensure my job security for another day or two. The workload though has gotten out of control - I have a big pile of typing to do tomorrow and an even bigger pile of mailing to do on Friday. The mailing wouldn't be too bad if it was just folding and stuffing envelopes, but I've got to double check the documents for errors and take out a copy for our files, so there's a lot of prep work that takes a whole lot of time. Mailing is my least favorite thing to do, but I don't trust anybody else with it - my anal-retentive nature was made for things like this. The boss' wife was in today - she stayed out of my way and that was fine with me. No more e-mails, thank God.
I watched another episode of "Oz" tonight. I know they're trying to wrap things up (and I've read the criticisms about this before), but they should have stayed with Toby's reaction to Said's death. The fact that they cut away seemed to lessen the impact - I haven't checked out the deleted scenes yet, so maybe there is something there. I was dreaming about poor Arif wandering about all by himself this morning. Granville Adams is the most underrated actor on that show (and he never gets any really juicy lines). Also, I hate that I'm seeing Dave Brass more than McManus. Not that I'm in love with Timmy-boy, but come on - Terry Kinney is brilliant and just needs to have more to do. Still feeling the Alvarez love though - yes, I will feature him in some fic one of these days.
Had choir practice tonight (hence the only one epi of Oz). I love our new choir director, he's absolutely great. Although he wants us to not only clap, smile, and sing, but he wants us to move. I can barely do the other three at the same time and now he wants to do choreography. I wonder if I'm the only person who thinks I look like Satan's mistress when I smile (it's truly frightening) which is why I have a hard time doing it while singing. Our new director is great though. I'm just glad to have somebody in that role, and the really great thing is - he hasn't met the princess yet.
I know I didn't do my review of Oz Season 5 yet and I'm going to hold off for a little while, but I will say that Dr. Faraj is awesome - I love that subplot, and I don't know if it was an acting choice or if Robson has always been that way, but watching the actor that plays him in the first episode of Season 6 as he was talking, it was absolutely fascinating that his lips barely moved. There was a line tonight that sent me into giggles - I didn't write it down though but the gist of it was Leo speculating how a gun made it into the prison - after 6 years and a ridiculously high body count, he's just asking this now. One wonders that if he had made it past the penultimate episode and gone onto a job outside of Oz, would Leo be working as a higher-up in the Department of Homeland Security? Maybe somebody should do a show about that.
