Snowflake Challenge - Day One - Intro Post

Hi. I'm Cat. I'm rarely here, usually on LJ. If you scroll down a couple of entries, you can see where I did this post last year. Not a lot has changed.
Fandom-wise- HBO's OZ is the biggest one for me still. I maintain the hardtime100 community over at LJ and post drabble challenges 2x a month and long-fic challenges less regularly (used to be monthly, but this year switching over to quarterly). Prodigal Son is my newest, shiniest fandom and I'm really looking forward to the new season starting in a week. The Jossverse is represented with Buffy, Firefly, and occasionally Angel. Game of Thrones is another that shows up regularly and other fandoms make an appearance from time to time. Most of my work is on LJ, but I am migrating the older fics gradually to Ao3 and will try to pop in links to my stuff here this year.
Writing-wise- My style is fairly economical. That comes from years of screenwriting (nothing really made, although if you lived in Chicago during the early 90s, you might have seen some of my stuff on the cable access soap "Behind the Screen" that I wrote for in college). So what I write is mostly dialogue. Fluffy descriptions generally happen in someone else's work. I have done NaNo and usually by the end of November, I'm sick of what I wrote and jonesing for something different. I write a lot of slash & femslash so if you're not a fan of those, my work may not be for you.
Other- I started a new job last January which has been very good for me. I'm able to come home and not be mentally exhausted. I'm also able to read/write during downtime so that's lent itself to some good results. I'm a big fan of hockey (go Blues!) and am looking forward to the season starting, even though it, like everything else is going to be weird this year.
Thanks for reading. I'm going to try to be around more this year so if you feel like adding me to your circle, please do so.

Date: 2021-01-03 02:01 pm (UTC)BtVS was my 'gateway' fandom and I've been hearing a LOT about Prodigal Son on my f-list.

Date: 2021-01-04 03:36 am (UTC)I think I've probably seen or read some of your BtVS stuff on LJ. Has most of that community migrated to DW- I know that Summer of Giles is over here now, but not sure about the other comms.
Prodigal Son is an excellent show. It's basically a procedural, but the first season there was a bigger overarching mystery that lasted the full season and the family dynamics are great.

Thank you for the info on Prodigal Son.

They're fun together and he's sworn to serve her which could bring about all sorts of delightful things. If I'm reading, I'll gravitate toward Sansa/the Hound or Jon/Tormund Giantsbane, just because I like the dynamic. Femslash- I'll take Yara & Anybody (usually Arya, occasionally Sansa or the Khaleesi).
What about you? Which pairings are you writing/reading?

Date: 2021-01-05 01:29 pm (UTC)Show-wise I'm pretty much the same. Brienne/Jaime, Arya/Gendry. I certainly loved the us-against-the-world/loyalty kink aspects of Cersei/Jaime but you could see the painful ending coming from a mile away, so I never really shipped it.
Fic-wise, I enjoy reading Sandor/Sansa, and anything that involves Sandor and Arya. However, Brienne/Sandor and Brienne/Cersei are where it's at for me. I've written two short ficlets so far and that's it, though I might have to do more once I read the books and rewatch the show.
Have you written anything for GoT, Brienne/Podrick or otherwise?

Date: 2021-01-06 01:53 am (UTC)I've written a few things. Most are on my LJ (cmk418 is my name on LJ & Ao3) and I'll be doing a re-post over to Ao3 at some point (I'm going fandom by fandom so it may be a while). There's Brienne/Pod, a few gen items and a whole lot of femslash.
