Most of the time I love my job, but the past few weeks, it's gotten insane. There are 3 of us in the office handling filing, typing, mailing, setting up new jobs, writing reports on completed jobs, accounting spreadsheets (because the CEO/head accountant aka the wife doesn't know shit about numbers), and the source of today's trouble - phone calls & status requests. This was fine when things were slow, but now business has boomed and there's been no increase in staff (not to mention that when things get really crazy one of us has to go out in the field and handle either a job or a pick-up ourselves. So my boss isn't in in the morning - this was pre-arranged - but he faxes over an e-mailed status request from one of our more high-maintenance clients. So we start working on it within minutes of getting the fax. None of the people handling the jobs are responding, which is also pretty typical. He shows up at 11:30 - wifey shows up about an hour later. Right around 2, he blows a gasket because we still haven't heard back from anybody. He brings up a request that I'm fairly positive wasn't on the original paper, but since I'm wading through my pile of completed reports and writing them up, in normal circumstances I would go through the pile and see if the report was in there. But my boss is yelling and doing the prima donna act so I call my guy who tells me basically that he already sent the report, but he's a decent person and gives me the information anyway. That's settled. My boss continues to carry on like an asshole. His dog (that he brings into the office) is hiding under my desk, completely freaked out. My boss' main gripe nowadays (which the office staff finds funny) is that we don't return phone calls. Utter b.s. The reality is that he doesn't return phone calls and the ones that he does, he tends to tell the client what they want to hear, which often isn't the reality of the situation or will have us scrambling to make it the reality of the situation. In actuality, my boss doesn't act like a complete dickhead often (his wife seems to bring this out in him) but today was too much. I didn't say one word to him for the rest of the time he was there and the office was quieter and more miserable than it's ever been. Hopefully he'll be back to normal fairly soon because I don't know how long I'm going to put up with it before I snap. Feeling the love. The sad thing is that I have so much work that I can't even take a mental health day right now.

Cards won tonight. That's a good thing. Is it so cold in St. Louis that Jeannie Zelasco has to wear a parka? My goodness, put some lights on that woman & warm her up. And there was some weird thing going on with the sound on the tv at work during the pre-game, it was so off, it hurt to watch it.

My Blackhawks seem to be falling apart. First Havlat (for 2 weeks), then Handzus (for the season), now Khabibulin is out too. They'll be okay - I hope.
