cmk418Maybe it's that my sister is going to England for the second time, maybe it's because I hung out all day with a friend also from Chicago, maybe it's because I found all these cool L.A. Confidential icons on-line (see above), maybe because I was just sarcastically plotting out my own LA Confidential AU fic where the guys' names and occupations all change and it morphs into a screenplay that I wrote a while back(with Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, and Kevin Spacey in my head the whole time), but whatever it is, I had one of the best hour-long writing experiences I've had in a long time.
I've been challenging myself since the beginning of Lent (since most of my evening obligations are now gone - yay!) to write for one uninterrupted hour in the evening, no distractions. Usually, it's like pulling teeth, I go in, start talking about my day and then maybe spend the last twenty minutes or so doing character or description exercises. Oh, and I can't write any fanfic during that time. Only original stuff. So I thought it might be fun tonight to write a reunion of three of my characters from a script I wrote over five years ago. Maybe in a roundabout way, it counts as fanfic, but they're my characters, no disclaimers involved. The weird thing is too, these are the only characters that I've written (and I've written quite a few scripts, stories, and abandoned bunnies over the years) that I would ever think about going back and playing with - I actually had the idea at one point for a trilogy, but never really went anywhere with my second two parts of it, but what I wrote today was even after those. It was fun.
I don't think I've mentioned this but I've stepped back from the choir at my church. While I like our director, I never really felt like I "fit" into what he had planned, so it was time to go. The couple of times I've been back to church since then, it seemed like a good move. And I LOVE having my Wednesday nights free.
I've had a killer headache for a couple of hours. Time to take some drugs and get some sleep before it follows me into tomorrow.
PS - This is the first year in many that I actually remembered to set my clock ahead. I hate losing that hour though.
