The swinging door to the stockroom was still rocking back and forth as he approached. Dino glanced around him, making sure he was unobserved as he stepped through.

The room appeared empty; the high pitched whine of the cooling vents the only sound as he padded past the first series of shelving units. It was dark here and cold. That could be an advantage, he thought, no pain-in-the-ass employees back here just for the hell of it. Part of him wanted to call out, to see if Ryan was really here. Part of him wanted to leave, find Ginny and go back to living a normal life with her and the kids.

Because this definitely wasn’t normal.

And that wasn’t relief, he thought as his eyes settled on Ryan in the blackness. The other man was still moving, further back in the shadows, giving no indication that he had heard Dino approach. There was nothing rushed about it, just enough movement to give the impression of not waiting. It would be easy enough for Dino to catch up to him. If that was what he wanted.

“Heard this thing about sharks once,” Ryan said, “if they stop moving they die.”

“Think that’s true?”

“Fuck if I know.”

“You afraid of dying, O’Reily?”

“No. Not so sure about stopping though.”

Dino reached out and caught Ryan’s hand with his own. He gently tugged, pulling Ryan back toward him. Ryan turned into his embrace. Dino wrapped his arms around Ryan, holding him close. He kissed the top of Ryan’s head, then his forehead, then the bridge of his nose, which earned him a “goddammit, Ortolani, enough already” from O’Reily.

He drew back, searching O’Reily’s eyes for a long moment. He brought a hand to the side of Ryan’s face, caressing him gently. Ryan turned his face into the touch, placing a brief kiss to Dino’s fingers, before turning those eyes, darkened with desire, back to Dino.

With that, everything seemed to shift. What once could have been shrugged off as a momentary lapse was very quickly developing into something more. Maybe he should follow the example of those sharks, just keep moving on, before this thing killed him. But, at the same time, Dino couldn’t stop.

He curled his fingers around Ryan’s neck, drawing him forward until their lips touched. Just a whisper of a touch at first, then slowly increasing pressure. He sucked on Ryan’s bottom lip, tracing it with his tongue, placing teasing little nips along the edges until Ryan opened up and drew him in.

Ryan’s hands began a slow travel downwards, molding their bodies together inch by inch. Dino straddled his legs so that Ryan could get even closer. Dino tangled his fingers in Ryan’s hair, kissing his way along Ryan’s neck.

“Haven’t seen you in a while,” Ryan mentioned.

“You’ve been looking?”

“Nah. I just had a lot of business up your way last week. Kept running into the two idiots.”

Dino kissed Ryan’s ear. “You’ve been looking.”

“Okay, so maybe I might have.”

Dino smiled at Ryan then kissed him softly on the lips.

“Doesn’t make me a fag or anything.”

“Course not,” replied Dino, rocking his hips forward enough so he could feel O’Reily’s erection. He drew back slightly, trailing his fingers across Ryan’s chest. “Will you look for me again?”

Ryan smiled, “You’re right here.”

“What about Tuesday night? Say ten o’clock. Behind that bookstore on Shipp?”

“If I’m in the area, I’ll keep my eyes open.”

Dino kissed him again, slowing everything down, as if it was the last time. Real life was encroaching on him quickly, and he just wanted to enjoy the moment for as long as he could.

He pulled away, stepping back. As he started to turn for the door, Ryan’s hand reached out and caught him.

“Hey, Ortolani, do you... do you ever...?” Ryan hesitated, knowing that if he asked the question it would expose more of himself than he wanted.

Dino looked at him expectantly. “Do I ever...what?”

Ryan shuffled his feet. “Do you ever look for me?”

Dino smiled at him. “Don’t have to.” He moved closer to Ryan and dropped his tone to a whisper. “I see you everywhere.”
