Long Day

Well it's just us non-execs in the office right now. Things may actually get done. I found out today that my boss is seriously losing it. He's missed some same-day assignments, so we were playing "stall the client" all morning and I had to run down and bring the documentation back to the office after it was completed this afternoon. And we had one that was supposed to be done today that he had us page one of our independent contractors on, but three hours later he denied knowing anything about it. I hope the vacation does him well, but I wish he had better company.

And he and the wife are letting me have use of the company car for the week. Since I'm going to be staying late & going in early, it makes sense. The downside is that it'll cut into my writing time, so I may wind up leaving it there one evening. Maybe. Driving in L.A. is a pretty big pain in the butt anyway, so if I'm just going straight home I prefer taking public trans.

Also, during the day I got an e-mail from my brother saying that his girlfriend wanted to break up with him. My brother (like my boss) is one of those people who can't function well as a single person, so this was very bad. Luckily, they managed to come to a compromise, but it bummed me out for most of the day.

Then I had a meeting at church. It was the monthly worship service - very nervewracking tonight since my choir director, the jr. princess, and another guy from choir were in attendance and I was music leader. Of course, when they put up the completely wrong words on the second song, it didn't help much. Believe it or not, I have horrible stagefright- I can sing in groups, but soloing, like I was doing tonight is problematic. I am doing a duet of sorts at the next service though, but it's a Christmas song that I know and love and we'll work it to death beforehand (I hope).

O'Reily is going to have to swirl around in my brain a bit longer. I'm not touching it tonight. Tomorrow I'll jump back in (or actually later today, since we're past midnight here). The pills I took for my sinus/allergy/headache have not kicked in yet. Maybe sleep will do me good.

I was listening to Christmas music in the car tonight. It's nice to be able to do that. I generally jump on putting the Christmas tree up early, otherwise (like last year) it may not go up at all. It's been so warm here lately that I haven't really wanted to. My family is going to put theirs up when I am in St. Louis over Thanksgiving - it's become a tradition of sorts. And we watch "The Godfather" while we're doing it. It's a nice time.

Pills kicking in, now if I can get my neighbors to shut up, I'll be all right.
