revelininsanity for the prompt - Costigan/Dignam - Sleeping in. This is set in her Running on Sand 'verse (which if you haven't read, you really should).
“Daddy! Billy! Get up!” demanded Sophie, climbing onto the bed.
Sean rubbed his face. “What time is it?”
“Nine twenty-eight.”
“Let Daddy sleep ‘til nine thirty, honey.”
“Okay,” she pouted, then scrambled out the door.
“You do realize that she’s going to be back here in two minutes,” Billy said. Sean merely snuggled closer to Billy with his eyes closed.
“Yes,” he mumbled. “Now let me get my tw-“
“Nine twenty-nine,” yelled Sophie from outside the door, followed quickly by, “Fifty-nine, fifty-eight.”
“Don’t laugh. You’re disturbing my rest,” admonished Sean.
“There are much better ways to spend…”
“Forty-three, forty-two…”
“…forty-one seconds than sleeping.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Billy lowered his head to Sean’s and captured his lips in a soft kiss.
“Nineteen, eighteen…”
“Morning,” said Sean, drawing back with a smile.
“Morning,” murmured Billy.
“Three, two, one!” Sophie opened the door and bounded back into the room. She stopped, placed her hands on her hips, and frowned at them. “What are you still doing in bed? We’re taking Sheba to the park today, remember?”
“After breakfast.”
“I think Sheba needs to go out now.”
Sean looked at Billy who shook his head. “Nuh-uh. I did it last time. It’s your turn. I’ll get breakfast started.”
Sean sighed. “Fine.”
Hand in hand, Billy accompanied Sophie to the kitchen. Sean leaned back against the mattress, closing his eyes once more. It only lasted a second – the click-click-click of puppy toenails on the hardwood floor the only notice he had before Sheba landed on the bed beside him, driving her wet nose into his armpit.
“So much for sleeping in,” he muttered.
