Thanks to everyone who sent birthday wishes! They really helped make my day.

Friday night, we saw my niece's debut in "The Wizard of Oz". It was so cute. She sang and danced like a pro. They had a live dog on stage (for some parts) and that was something that seemed to take over. I almost fell over laughing when they got to the "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" scene because immediately prior to that, doggie treats were flying out from the curtain and bouncing across the stage. Hilarious!

This past Saturday, my sister took my mom & I out for a celebration of our respective milestones (60 for mom, 40 for me - yes, I am that old, and 30 for her). We started the day at the Butterfly House watching hundreds of butterflies flitting around, then we moved to take a ride on the carousel (in the same park) and had a lovely picnic lunch. After that, we went to a spa to get beauty treatments (massage, facial, and pedicure), then it was off to dinner. We walked through the hotel/casino past restaurant after restaurant and then I noticed that my aunt was there and my cousin and my aunt from the other side of the family and my brother's girlfriend and it took a few seconds after that to realize that she'd decided to throw a surprise party for me. It's nothing that I would have said I wanted, but it wound up being a pretty cool "girls' night" for all of us.

I was supposed to do something with my dad on Monday (he & I usually go out for my birthday), but we wound up watching the nephew all day, so we just went to breakfast and watched a lot of the "Mad Men" marathon on AMC before the nephew got there and after he left.

Yesterday was very low key. I spent most of the day on my own and then drove over to Loews to look at faucets (just because) and figure out what colors I want to paint my room. The parents and I went out to dinner and dessert. I put together my new desk chair and now have it in my room.

OH! I heard positive things about a job yesterday, so I'm going in tomorrow for a test scenario and a formal interview (along with a few dozen other folks, I'm sure) and then I'll have to wait again until September (which isn't that long) to see if I actually get the job.

Tonight, we're having the family birthday celebration. I've got to start working on the food prep pretty soon. It should be fun.
