Heading Out

cmk418It's our semi-annual family gathering (the other is the Sunday before Thanksgiving) for mom's side of the family. It's ridiculously hot outside today - first day in ages, I should be grateful, but I really am not thrilled about spending hours in the 90 degree heat. Hopefully, there will be a few more cousins there this year - last year was really disappointing with the underrepresentation. To put it in perspective, my mom has 9 brothers and sisters who are local, 8 of whom have kids (and most of the kids now have kids as well) so the place where we're going can be literally overrun if everyone shows up. Last year though, there were only about 8 of us cousins (I'm the oldest of the bunch), so it was a little underwhelming.
The cooler is packed, the niece is dressed and we're just waiting for the folks to get back from church so we can go.
In other news, I'm going to Chicago in three weeks. My sister and nephew are coming along too, which should be all right. It's been since President's Day that I've been there so it's a wonder that I haven't gone completely mental by this point.
Glad Boston is in the Cup finals, although I think they are bound to break my heart (but I also said that about a certain team last year, and look how that turned out!)
