Yes, I am getting ready for Sunday. I am so stoked. Can't wait for the Super Bowl to get underway. Which is kinda funny since I've seen one complete game this season. Between PST and church, I've been screwed on that account. (And the fact that I really didn't care too much for NBC's play-by-play which ruled out the Sunday night games).

Technically, I should be down at the Staples Center right now, since my beloved Hawks are in town. I'll go next month. It's a shame though, since the Kings are one of the two teams in the league with a worse record than the Hawks. (And I don't think either plays the Flyers any time soon).

I spent my morning pages today writing a three-page love letter about "The Departed". That movie has seemed to grow exponentially the more I think about it. I just happened to see a preview for it a couple of days ago (on the Hollywood Reporter website - "For Your Consideration" section) and I fell in love with it all over again. I may have to actually purchase it on the 13th (I've given it the tagline - "The Departed" just in time for Valentine's Day, give it to the one you love).

And the past couple of years have been pretty quiet in terms of me actually rooting for something in terms of the Academy Awards, but this year I'm actually really wanting "The Departed" to win. I probably wouldn't have this feeling if "Dreamgirls" was nominated (since that seemed to be a lock to win everything) but with the field wide open. Sigh. It'll go a long way to making up for last year's silliness. (Of course, I knew going in that there was no chance in heaven for "Brokeback Mountain" to win - which would have been a sign that the Academy had actually grown a pair).

They've been painting my apartment building - which would have been very nice, except they decided to change the trim from a sky blue to (being kind) a cappuccino color. It's ugly. And it's annoying because they painted it without opening the door so every time I go into my apartment, I see a half inch of blue trim on each side. Yuck.

Work's going well. I'm actually 1/3 of the way through January which pleases me. My boss has been somewhat amusing lately - he keeps referring to his wife by his ex-wife's name. Luckily for all of us, she hasn't been around when he's done it.

I saw "Possession". I haven't read the book, but I loved most of the movie (except for Gwyneth - who's accent bugged me). Aaron Eckhart was just wonderful and the story held my interest. It was a little odd to see Neil LaBute attached to it - I didn't get around to watching the director's commentary, but it's amazing that the same guy that wrote "In the Company of Men" would have done something like this very romantic film.
