So the Quarles fic is done

I've been trying to get this fic written about Quarles and his little habit that got him exiled (trying not to spoil anything). Last night's episode finally showed me how I could do it - I'll admit to having a few problems with the revelation itself (I thought it was a bit of a cop-out actually and the writers could have just left it as is and let us create our own theories about the character and his motivations or lack thereof).

For those of you who haven't seen s3, in particular the episode "Guy Walks into a Bar", this won't make a whole lot of sense (despite being very vague).
