Season 3 Quote - "You'd need a lot more than some shank to take me out" - Chris Keller
Vern was right. If he’d have wanted to kill Keller, Keller would be dead. The old man knew enough of his habits and his haunts that it would happen in the most public setting possible. It wouldn’t be in the quiet intimacy of a storage room as he shelved copy paper. Vern wouldn’t have stabbed him in the back either. He’d want Chris to know who was driving the shank into him. There’d be a group of them too. Aryans tended to travel in packs. One would hold the prey, while the others would attack, and they would switch off as they needed.
Like they did with Operation Toby.
Not being able to see Beecher was the biggest inconvenience of this whole thing. Here Chris was laid up, instead of using his considerable charms to get closer to Toby. It would work too, just like it had with Bonnie. He was certain of it. Despite the protests, Toby still wanted him. It would take more than some shank to keep him off his game with Beecher.
Keller’s thoughts turned momentarily back to the person that shanked him. It would have to be someone who knew where he would be at that particular time. Someone who was aware of his movements and could quietly get into place without being noticed. Someone whose arms slipped around him as easily as in a wrestling hold.
Toby.
Keller discounted the thought as quickly as it came to him. It was crazy. It just showed how much the man had permeated his mind. Toby would never hurt a soul, could never hurt a soul.
It was why Chris loved him so much.

Date: 2018-07-11 05:06 am (UTC)I'm glad you liked it. I love that scene in the next episode where Toby basically confesses to him and Keller still can't wrap his mind around it. It's absolutely beautiful.
I just found this site so here I am :-)

Date: 2018-07-14 05:20 am (UTC)I think Keller got a bit of an inkling of how dangerous Toby could be, the "ask Metzger" line surely tipped him off, but when it came down to it, he believed Toby would never really hurt him and he didn't think Toby would succeed with the part of the plan to get Schillinger (at least not without his help).
I added you as a friend. Places you might want to visit/communities you might want to add:
Btw, I did post your request for season 4b fic, so hopefully it will get picked up.

Date: 2018-07-11 02:46 pm (UTC)I do occasionally write B/K. I generally get more of a reaction from them than I do any other pairing.
But I might turn that S6 quote of yours around for someone else.
